  1. ok, now with that explanation, I agree, do not invest time and dollars into a car that might be impounded/confiscated. I would think that with the body numbers you have for comparison against the hot list of stolen would be in order. The documents are in place for the transfer of the estate to the dealer, the dealer to you and with the actual records of production and the fact it falls inside the assigned numbers out of Detroit, this would be presented, and all would be clear on new documentation in your home of registration. My apologies, I thought with the provenance you had already mentioned there was title/registration already in your hands. I agree, you need to move forward and secure the documentation first. Best of luck dealing with the government office. Sometimes before it is over you feel you a trained animal jumping through this hoop or over that stile.
  2. 400 euros for what, a pedigree...why is it that the pedigree is always more important than the actual car and bringing/keeping it in good running order and cosmetics. Denial to the fact of the very serial numbers you have, the actual production numbers documents and the very history of the DIAMOND stamp on the engine...a symbol never used till mid 54 and never used again after. Think again on the 49, that is the model number, not the year of manufacture.....odds are the clerk has trouble entering data or deciphering.
  3. IF you were to trust this clip again for your install...you may well be sourcing the playing field for another replacement set. I suggest an insert that will allow you to bolt these truly in a manner that will not allow them to lift off the spring tabs. this is a quick and easy mod. Even if you did not lose these due to clip fatigue or rust, they are easy susceptible to pilfering by an unscrupulous person strolling about an unattended car being displayed.
  4. the decision could be a tough one and it is all based on the initial loss of usually not more than a couple dollars an hour pay.....this is often offset with less cost for fuel and food on the jobsite....with both going up as they are semi-weekly.....may well be affordable to jump.
  5. This evening I made the last tool to compliment my Bend Pak alignment lift and round out what I need to do alignments. These can be anywhere from 35-65 bucks on e-bays. This I made from a caulk gun I bought new at the swap meet for 1.00 and the metal rod with nuts....free as they were discarded items I had picked up. The rubber foot, not sure where I snagged this in the past, was in my box of do-dads for when I project a bit on small stuff. Turned a collar, cut a piece of flat steel, drilled and threaded 4 bolt holes, painted the parts red and let the big dog eat.
  6. I second that retirement is the best job ever, being retired I stay as busy if not more so than when working. I look back and wonder how I juggled work, house, kids/school, yard maintenance and still got a bit of sleep each day and was still pretty much on top of all these tasks. I realized that I went to work, I also was able to rest up. Being retired the secret is staying busy but to never set a deadline as this now crosses the fine line of hobby/fun and places it into the WORK zone....
  7. I apologize, my error, I forgot "I" was on the truck forum....belay my last.....!!! I do not have a truck manual save the official Military 1941 book and it is not handy at the desk right now.
  8. page 151 of my manual shows pictures of the mount and explains which mount gets what pieces to ensure proper fin in place when torque is applied. Look in your book if different from mine under Engine section, mounting.....
  9. Mr. Adams does not do facebook
  10. should this not be posted on the truck page...?
  11. check your alignment pulley to water pump and determine if you need a shim on the inside between collar and pulley or outside between pulley and nut to eliminate any slack....GIVEN the hole of the pully is not buggered to the point of excess play on the pulley to shaft contact points.
  12. same here guy, I bet there is only 4 folks that actually have my flip phone number. I use it as you, on the road emergency type device or just to touch base with the wife of my son. Other than that, call the land line, leave a message, if urgent the wife will call my cell and let me know.
  13. I tried a number of times to call and could never connect....would not even ring on his end and would get the recording that unable to complete the call, try again later. Sure sign there may well be an outage. I was able to make other cars today so ruled out possible problems on my end....but then...you never know.
  14. AT&T major provider of phone to Reedley is currently experiencing major problems....cannot even get a ring tone on his end when dialed.....for the age of communications so little is exchanged these days...soap box now open to next participant.
  15. Paul and number of other folks.....some even GTK could not get message to through his access to e-mail. For a family of like branded cars and goals....little thought is given to the contributor himself at times. It was early CA time when I called though he is often wide awake at this time the phone message just said could not take the call at this time.
  16. ya need to turn that into a boy scout project of building character.....(along with building your truck)
  17. did anyone ever slow down and wonder what happened to the original poster and question his absence from the thread....his number did not answer my call.
  18. As per the listed above, the D denote the application of Dodge badging on the Plymouth P25 chassis which is for the export market if a true Dodge the P would not be on the engine..the Diamond will definitely place this about second half of the production year as this denotes the install of the 230 cubic inch engine as 1954 was a transition year for Plymouth and the only year that the 218 and 230 were installed, the diamond thus defines which flathead, the 230. 1953 was 218 flathead six, 1954 218 start of model 230 end of model and 1955 only the 230 flathead in Plymouth. Your car is a Plymouth in Dodge badging. The tags denote also you have the stock 230 that came with the car at time of production. Not confusing...all the data you have listed above and the description I just agave including the diamond tell you all you need to know. PS...the numbering denotes of the four assembly plants for Plymouth that yours was built in Detroit
  19. While not a major milestone it is a task needed done nonetheless. I pulled the 3.9 hog head out and replaced it with a 3.7. Cut a new gasket for the banjo to carrier, all in all basic paint by number step by step process...few pictures....now of course some will be confused by this high tech carrier and axles. (yuk yuk snicker snicker) first is 3.9 in place driveshaft just disconnect, then the axle(s) slipped from out of the side gear (remove the drum and one screw) the open banjo and lastly the 3.7 in place buttoned up and the driveshaft back in place. Now comes the hardest part of the job, cleaning up the area and putting things away.....
  20. ok, was just spit balling here....still running about a quart low on coffee this morning but topping off quickly, then to the shop and IWOYTD
  21. why not just simply use the three prong flasher as it was designed for this very application of a single monitoring signal indicator.
  22. ok, the rooster is up and it is now daylight in the swamp....no real rain last evening and a low probability of rain today....so that means it will probably pour. Nursing a bit of coffee as I am truly not much of a morning person except for catching up on my journal and the forums. Hope you all can get to the shop and do a bit to the breast in captivity...good luck, now get out there....oh, be safe...!
  23. NAH.....you not old fashion, I am old fashion, I refuse to use a smart phone for very much this reason along with tons of other reasons....guess I just don't have a need to be that 'in touch' however phantom charges do often occur.....I had a small interest fee on one account...I have not paid interest in over 30+ years on any card (ex has long been an ex). I called and inquired....even they could not explain the charge....I was credited...it was not the amount as much as the principle. So yes, like you, I do read my statements as they come in and verify all charges are correct.
  24. heat range due to increase in compression
