  1. your first picture sure faked me out....not much detail in that pic..but in this pic, is that a yankee slot also in the screw head? Yeah Torx has been around for a bit....the Air Force uses an Apex bit, they very special as well.
  2. so I understand the one from Mass. failed at the pin....? you providing more details now....but, stick with my original statement, right parts, right technique you will have a RIGHT pump.
  3. question is, was it in serviceable condition when you pulled it, if so and with proper technique in building and quality replacement parts...I don't foresee where there should be an issue. I also do not see Torx screws but I do see what appears to be Phillips head.
  4. do like so many other makers do with a common clevis and spring combination....let the spring not only act as a spring but let it also be the retainer for the clevis pin...(lose the cotter pin)...I do recommend a washer between spring and clevis if you do it in this fashion.... added....I have in many places seen the tear-drop added where the tear drop is the washer spring hook combination.....
  5. Marc, do a search, this has been discussed in detail a number of times....
  6. E-bay sellers, 4 day shipping means: it will be four days before we do anything toward getting the order out the door..... However I will admit there are still a few that get your on the way quickly....but....look for a low volume seller not a mega seller...these guys deserve your business as they try harder...just hope success does not ruin their track record.
  7. drill stops at each end of the crack...best thing here is the value of having the block stripped and ability to lay in position that will aid in "flow" of your puddle...clean the crack as best you can and do a light V the main heat will need be along the boss of the oil galley but with cast iron you not going to melt or distort this and in truth the retained heat in the heavier heat will aid in longer cool down of you brazing....good prep, proper torch size and you should be able to save the block...these are not pressurized under original use and circumstances. I have done cast iron brazing in the past and right now have a couple cast repairs to make here at the house when next I feel like piddling on something other than the project at hand. Good luck....lets up see your handiwork.
  8. got twin chokes on my little beast and no such thing as a butterfly either but needed as these carbs don't have the first form of an accelerator pump.... but yes conversation here in the past I recall some say dependent on climate if you need two or suffice with but one I would be one to affix a choke to each carb and maybe a choke anyone that says not needed.....but hey, that is just who I am.
  9. Bike Artistry Shop.....heck you cannot even find bike parts in my area....you are fortunate to have such resources readily at hand even if you don't like all the flavors.
  10. it was no stress any more than typing 'spark plug torque' was into my search engine....if I was totally put off by your question or considered it annoying I would not have even bothered to look in your behalf or to paste the link....if you were based in the US....yes I would likely never responded.....so many folks come here first and wait for a reply that may or may not be correct when they could have all the facts, not just the guesses or how another person did it or what they may think is right, but actual data. As for Plymouth specification...
  11. it is so easy when you just go to the internet with just three word typed.... Silverstone Torque Specifications: (nology.com)
  12. I agree and in some cases there may be a similarity in comparing, but in this case if Plymouth is a potato, that in my opinion would make all the others dumplings. As we all know a dumpling is just a blob with no distinction at all.
  13. I see nothing that make me think potato looking at any car unless it was a burnt Citroen, Renault or Peugeot where French Fried would be appropriate. I had at one time a cartoon of the Pilgrims first land and proclaiming the site Plymouth Rock and on the beach behind them was this huge rock shaped like a 1952 Plymouth....
  14. this is how guru's are born.....!
  15. dang, the one day I did not take the Peugeot out for a ride....but, to my defense, I usually ride after supper and supper was late followed by a rain storm....tomorrow is another day. Stayed very busy in the machine shop and such fabricating some parts for the Morris that is not available. Found a couple worn items and went to buy them...they now no longer available. I will be making some bushings next it seems. Always something. Rebuilt the vent window latches and had to make the special shoulder stud to stake in place.
  16. a farmer in Idaho maybe....!!
  17. I could build another and it would already be full. Got too many babies here to feed and dress......just glad I don't have to send them to school..!!
  18. Last weekend at the local flea market snagged two of these large mirrors for a 10.00 bill and mounted this one in the high bay of the new barn addition today...
  19. this is why these brad points do so well in soft material like rubber and plastic....the brad point bites and guides without walking and the outer edges cut the circular portion of the hole before the center core is cut out by the rest of the bit. Freezing may help, never have done that so cannot relate any experience here.
  20. Nice patio setup.....looks totally inviting. I have eaten onions, banana peppers, tomato, cucumber, strawberries out of the garden so far this year. Today and as I type, mums is making some dill pickles from this morning crop of cukes. There is a mess of green beans to pick also and my pick these later today or tomorrow. My squash was a bust this year for some reason, zucchini still coming on strong and of course, okra this year, just a couple plants to see how it would do in a bucket garden. The lady finger peas, jury still out on them, never grew these before either and so hard to comment on the possible crops here.
  21. Back inside for a bit of cool down, 97 out there and a bit humid yet also. Anyway, took a minute to find the bit set I was referring too....they are called brad points and are keen for wood workers. I was fortunate to find this set at local estate sale for 5.00 unused. Then you may be interested in the smaller package usually at hardware/supply stores. Smaller set link: Topzone 8 Pieces 1/8 - 3/8" Brad Point Drill Bits Set for Wood" | eBay
  22. I agree, repurpose as much as you can and save the jingle for that you cannot create......invest in a square hole bit set, smaller common sizes are sold in package of 5 different sizes. Make holes in plastic and rubber so much easier and can actually drill a stop depth with them.
  23. IF you are out to turn some rubber from stock into push in grommets be it on a lathe or drill press etc. You can get rubber stoppers in various sizes pretty economically might I ad at places like Lowes and other well stocked specialty hardware isle of your favorite place you shop. This is pretty much a common practice for hard to get items, these stoppers have many uses in the auto hobby.
  24. finding exposed unbooted 90's for the plug and with the added attention of a spring locking clip may prove to be time involved if they are out there at all. One can buy a set of booted 90 cables and carefully slice the boot I suppose given this is a MUST look.
  25. well, I often look at how the simplicity of the ratchet stand allows a quick and effective means to lift and lock the stand with minimum time of person/arm/hand in and about the suspended load....futzing with pinned stands require you in danger longer in my opinion...
