  1. there will be a bulge in triangular shape from approx 3/16 on outer edges growing to about 3/8 thick at the center mound area if you still have the bases in place...
  2. if this is for your listed car in profile you will need the gasket between the front of the tranny and the bell housing
  3. the area behind the head liner will be the holes for inserting the curved spring loaded end of the visor rod and as the spring rod and mount are assembled as one piece the prepped mounting surface is all you should have in place. Other cars in wrecking yards could offer up a workable substitute. The fiberboard of the originals do not survive exposure very well....but if left dry they are remarkedly in good serviceable shape on the average. NOW when reading your post I may be totally confused on what you were referring to behind your headliner.
  4. in some circles you have been drawn and quartered for that remark....them boys take those cars serious....
  5. the ultimate answer here is how much you think the improvement will make the vehicle more versatile in the manner you do or intend to use it....odds of it going into a museum as a show piece I guess needs be weighed also
  6. my 81 A833 is aluminum also, shifter lever reversed makes third as now fourth gear position and 4th is used as third. IT is the miser OD package The aluminum cases were not the highest quality in many aspects with the lay gear internal rear bushing one that gets hogged out in use over time....they are repairable but costly and I think there is but one company reworking the case. Check you case over real close..
  7. hair...we don't need no stinking hair.......hair is just to cover up UGLY heads......
  8. your Nancy is from ELR....now can you tell me where the Betty line come from....?
  9. Normally I would not have been as upset but I had just put in that culvert and drive to my new property I had bought and cleared and spent countless hours of work in the process. It was their denial they were even on the property much less did the damage that got me more riled than anything else....I cannot stand being lied to...liars and thieves I will hold accountable...simple err is usually not a problem when accompanied by an apology.....if nothing else, it is a character lesson they must pay for in life.
  10. and this would be how you would handle it if they drove over your property leaving ruts....? Maybe so...I had FedEx driver do a drive on, three point turn and leave ruts like you read about. Filled a police report when they drove away with no regard to the wife trying to get their attention. They said I was mistaken as their driver said they did not do that. I gave them the police report, description of the driver and truck and the fact I have two witnesses and if they do not schedule the repair, I do not work cheap. They paid my estimated repair cost post haste when I gave them the police report number. Companies will walk and drive all you and yours if you let them....the flat denial was the fact that upset me the most.
  11. move along Betty, nothing to see here......I would think there would be spotters watching the runways for such activity and give chase to the animal while placing plane in holding pattern...
  12. Steele did offer that service in the past..you can call for quote and time involved in turnaround, would not think it be quick at all. I would try a number of providers first, e-bay also.....Roberts, Bernieboy and maybe VPW if you have the part number in hand...
  13. Nice read Todd, thanks for sharing your archive find. The here and now take precedence it seems....fast times at anyhighway.com...folks just need to slow down and enjoy life and quit trying to rush the end so quickly.
  14. to qualify the above statement....law says the exhaust is too loud and needs replace.....guess that was all they looked at.....
  15. one should for all accounts be able to depreciate their cars in the RUST BELT
  16. yes, recognized early ocean going explorers in small boats....it was that important to find a better climate.....?
  17. buying these from a local retailer is not cost effective in my opinion, compare priced them at Lowes just today. I order these online by the case....they are then about the cost for a good set of fluorescent tubes...
  18. wired the smaller bay today for lights.....bought fluorescent fixture and converted to LED...easy and cost effective.....
  19. experts and specialist are only words in a dictionary these days....my condolences for the headache....but TAKE IT BACK
  20. I modified my original cherry picker when I happened upon a nice newer unit. The main purpose was just to add some pneumatic tires on larger casters so one can roll along the yard between buildings and what not. Very effective....as I had also attached a towing bar so my lawn tractor can be attached.
  21. the main thing that is cheese on these units are the low grade hardware.....upgrade that...torque adequately....should be relatively no issue from there...
  22. the walk on water comment has always been a good "poke" between the two forces, I can easily see the sea sick tactic put into play....our Navy is one of the top notch forces in the world....I was a techie for their weapons and communication systems for years before transferring to the Air Force electronic warfare directorate from which I retired some 17 years later...I am not taking from our other defense ministries, they are all elites...the back shops and clericals also are needed to make all this work.....fully support our fighting forces. Civil Service of 37+ years and combine military service of 32+ years, I have met some of the best folks you can imagine, got fond memories no one can steal from me and overall was the greatest times of my life.
  23. you got to remember the trend to many of these fast cheap and easy mods are the work of low budget as in no money mods to field found cars...still very popular with the ratters...if it is cheap, tacky and gives you tetanus...right up their alley
  24. if you marines would ever learn to walk on water we could get rid of the navy.......Salutes to all Vets and special salute to those now serving...
  25. starting digging the cars out of the shed....its quite the job to be truthful....mentioning this just to say....3 snakes spotted in the process.....end of the window we had to work, two 4 cars moved....mine are setting in position to load next trip up
