  1. Gobble gobble....and later today we all will "gobble" a bit of food down the gullet....my weakness, giblet gravy and yeast rolls...that is a meal unto itself. Enjoy the day everyone....kick back with family and turn off them blasted cell phones and TV.....
  2. years ago I got this wild hair to get me a lathe...I decided on a Southbend with 9" swing....I do not know how I got along as many years as I did without it......just so many projects this lathe has bailed me out on....as my bud says, pulls the fat out of the fire every time. That should drive the guides out without a bit of problem...you done good grasshopper
  3. have you considered making a set of sepleted uranium....
  4. You should mark the location to the lobe of each lifter. I also recommend a a micro polish with 600 grit with oil...on the install a coat of molybdenum disulfide paste on the lobes of the cam and the flats of the lifters where they will ride on the lobes. On using this clean up and install procedure I have never had a used cam ever to fail. These are fairly low spring tensions on the flathead as it is and even less likely to gall.
  5. look at the fitting on the tank and determine the style bung and if or if not a bubble or inverted flare style....better yet, ask the supplier what fitting is needed.....
  6. not sure Frank...they say a well dressed lady when passing gas balloons at the ankles....?
  7. yo Frank.....here is a good one.....
  8. apologies to Frank...was not my intent nitpick his analogy....most folks when they have a nice no leaking unit leave well enough alone...but as Frank says, this is your call completely....I know I would not mess with it if working.

  12. JJ is a total AH...saw the show one time as a captive audience at a business while in hold pattern....total waste...as Sheldon would say she sits on the kiddie's bench of her profession...
  13. all I saw was glue with dirt on it....glue was a rare commodity back in the day of this vehicle build...glue would work given you NEVER had the NEED to revisit the crime scene but still screams short cut...
  14. I easy installed mine using popular clips synonymous with other makers of the era....quick and easy pop in...pops out easily if you need to later service a cracked glass etc....rivets will require drill out later...glue will mess up the paint and such also...screws are an alternative but must be very small heads to stay below the flocking at all time including aged projected wear.
  15. unfortunately today there is fewer resources for the owner to command satisfaction and stopping a payment or such to a licensed business can garner a mechanic lien on the vehicle. While he may not get his money from you...should you sell or heirs take procession later after you pass...that lien will need be cleared as they have first right to disposition...consumers have fewer rights and get fewer yet daily it seems. is there a quick and easy solution, other than asking the man to please go back over his work and that if something was accidently broken in the process it is understandable but will still need be fixed by the shop though you may have to tolerate it till say if in case a manifold was damage one could be found...just get an acknowledgement as to their intent/willingness to fix the vehicle....again, why one must be very proactive on doing their own maintenance even when it is inconvenient.
  16. sorry...no can identify application and placement...the very rhyme and reasoning behind bag and tag is only thing that comes to mind...
  17. Nancy was the nick name attributed to Raymond by his dad on Everyone Loves Raymond....
  18. while they look similar..the speed nut is based on the two flat slightly on different planes...the clip is on the same plane with the two flaps...both are easily located by size of the pin they are going on at most any hardware store.
  19. speaking of gifts, this month hosts my birthday.....off this morning to the swap meet, last and only second event of the year...I will be looking to gift myself whatever I find that I just can't live without plus the assorted shop sundries I usually always stock up on. while unique...this is not a considered purchase......lol https://robins.bookoo.com/i/74421223

  21. I have always said I could screw something up a lot cheaper than paying someone to screw it up for me....
  22. last two years in the army, never stood formation, never did PT and no duties within the company...wore the uniform but three times...twice a COQ and once when my CO was stripped of his Nam battlefield commission...he was a great guy, felt bad for him and felt proud to be in uniform in support of him. All in all though, if I knew I could have stayed doing the job I was doing working the equipment I had entrusted to me...I would have stayed in....but I knew this duty was special and would be short lived. I got out in 75, the unit disbanded in 77 I eventually went on with 32+ years accredited service and a paid retirement.
  23. well I was never in Nam...but in Germany US Army my hair was fairly long....to the point one of the cadre followed me out of barracks asking why I was in his building....all in how you combed your hair....one NCO asked me this...don't you think you need a haircut...my reply, thanks for leaving it up to my thinking....NO!!!!
  24. this is from the latest little car I bought with a four speed....figure the picture would say it all.....
  25. Kept my hair pretty much trimmed for many many years...military service and such..so on retirement from the Air Force 2003 I decided to grow a beard. I still kept my hair cut as I was still civil service...retired in 2012 and got a haircut about quarterly for a couple years.....slow growing. Beard and hair are now on a self maintenance schedule...beard has not gotten any longer in about 15 years...hair is relatively at the same length now for about 5....buy old Plymouth parts with the money saved....
