Ok Now that I got your attention as to what the topic is all about. Over the weekend I came across a special vehicle that all of us older kids will recognize and also will know the words to a very popular song that we all sang as kids.

A clue is that a very little person would pop out of the top of the vehicle and he would be wearing a chefs hat.

The vehicle was orange and yellow.

The body looked like a bun

I guess you have figured it out by now.  Yes its the OSCAR Mayer Wienermobile.

It was parked in a hotel around the corner from my home here in Valley Forge  PA.

So who can remember the words to the song?

I will start you out:  I Wish I was an Oscar Mayer Wiener because everybody would be in love with me eee.

Now this song will be in your mind for a whole day, but what a great song to hear.

Here are pictures of the wienermobile.

And Yes I still have my original wienermoble whistle.

Hope this brings back a lot of good memories

Odd thing about that. The little man that played Oscar Meyer in the early ads grew up in the same neighborhood that I did. When his career was done he moved to the same town where I live and died on my wife's birthday in 2005. His name was George Molchan.

Neil, he must have been "hot dogging" it and hit white ice! I've never seen one of these. Must be an eastern thing.

This is how I remember the words (not sure if it's all correct):

I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner,

that is what I'd really like to be.

'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner,

everyone would be in love with me.

Hey Paul... Did you notice the license plate in Rich's pics? It's a Midwestern thing. ;)

Per the infallible internet:

Oh, I wish I was an Oscar Mayer weiner,
that is what I'd truly like to be,
'cause if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner,

everyone would be in love with me.

Was it this one?    attachicon.gifOscarswiener_zps0240edd9.jpg

Looks like the wienermobile got into a bit of a pickle. Bet the driver is in hot water. Probably puckered his buns a bit. Don't think I would relish the chance of driving this big dog on the ice. I wonder if the driver carried all the proper condiments? Looks like the guy in the photo has a cheesy grin on his face.

That one going slideways in the photo does look like the one which was built about 1995 in Fresno, at the world famous roach coach builder: Carlin Mfg.

My Ex-boss was a salesman there.

The Pontiac Bonneville lights are a clue.

Don, you are a character.  My dads buddy had that same twisted sense of humor and he could make me laugh just walking into the room.  One of my favorites is when my brother who was 17 at the time dating a girl named Dawn.  We were all at my dads cabin and when my brother woke up he asked him (in front of the whole family) "So Tim, did you wake up at the crack of Dawn?"

Have you ever been to Key West and seen a conch pronounced konk? If you place it near your ear you can hear the ocean.

I once knew a girl who had a conch tattooed on her inner thigh. She claimed (and I don't know for sure) but if you placed your ear near her tattoo you could smell the ocean.

I better go sit in the corner for a while.

I  wasn't aware of the proper pronunciation....Appears Oscar kinda missed the mark in this picture. post-296-0-42314400-1430434490_thumb.jpg

Don, smell the ocean or the " roses"? You must have lived a " charmed" existence in your previous life!
