Blasted and painted splash plates, put the starter in, worked on the brake line weep from hell (appears to be the brass 90 on the bottom of the MC). Cleaned up and checked the generator, got it ready for paint.  Still need to set up the fuel gauge sending unit and install it and I need to make the flex line from the steel fuel line to the fuel pump.  Putting off the real body work as long as I can.

Hope I got the photos to work.  BTW, no complaining about the mess in my shed.  Whenever I get the brake weep fixed, I will remove the plastic on the floor and clean the place up again.

Since the weather was nice this year, I decided to take a break from the JD 425 & Saturn L200 that have been hogging my spare time since February...both have snow-balled into more work than anticipated:

attachicon.gifsm425project.jpgattachicon.gifsmL200project.jpg

I did a pre-fire inspection on the '48 cuz I don't think I've run that truck in about 6 weeks:

I then moseyed down to the post office at break neck speed to mail some bills, then to the water office to check on the pecan tree I donated a couple of years ago:

I then wandered into the back 40 and promptly ran out of gas about half a mile from the house:

I eventually got the '49 fired up & swept out and took a few pics of it too

I've got the tools & parts laid out for the full PCV setup that was documented earlier, but it'll be awhile before I can get back to it...

I really like your truck JB, hope you never paint it. Looks awesome as is!

I havent gotten to work on my 52 in a few weeks been busy working on my daily driver. I did walk past it quite a few times to get tools though, wish i was working on that instead.

Awesome job everyone!!!! If you haven't posted yet...no biggie....develop your film and get it cut and pasted here before next year...lol.

yah! This year the IWOYTD is during warmer weather for us northerners!

lol....how much warmer???? Do we need it pushed to May?

 next year?

I unboxed and dusted off my official Fisher Cheese truck in preparation for the big day tomorrow. Plans for tomorrow are to air up the tires and lube the 5th wheel. Will that count?

Hellya it does!! Thats the spirt DC!

I didn't have any work to do ON my truck, but since today was designated "yard work day" I decided to work WITH my truck. I used it to run to Menards for some mulch.

Perfect....you gave your truck a good workout! lol

Thrown rod? Were you power shifting and over revved it? You must have exceeded the maximum SCFM.

I was racing another compressor....I almost won, but the other guy blew by me in turn four.....I lost my temper and air it out on the straight away.....couldn't handle the pressure, and got the wind knocked out of me. Its a just a single phase I'm going through, i'm sure. Just feeling flat about the whole deal, but I promise, I won't get hosed again next week!

Little late getting posted but I worked till dark fell on me...and in keeping with last years tradition, I decided this would be a good time to wash the front left wheel...

lol....might help killing rust too....:D

......It didn't take too long before someone asked me to explain the wooden clothes pin - who's to say whether it's effective or not in stopping fuel vaporizing?... it's still a good conversation point!

Hmmmmmm......this could be a good way to meet the future Mrs 48Dodger....lol

I stared at mine for a few minutes while painting cupboard doors for another vintage trailer I am restoring........ sigh..........

Your trailer project are awesome Bud......:)

"I'm sure that Tim said in a previous post that 'staring' at your truck and 'dreaming' counted as well !!"

Yes....yes it does!

Plymouthy;

Dam boy.......ain't you trained your garden gnomes better than that?

Jeff

HAHAHAHAHAHA........

Great looking trucK!!!

It counts Chris...it counts!

Suggest next time you gage your PSI or make use of your unloader valve so you don't blow the pressure switch or pop a relief valve or get stuck in the reeds.

Okay, so I initially posted early on this thread, but now I am posting late, go figure. Today installed new American made Raybestos MC in my 55 Fargo.

I jacked up front end on truck did a complete inspection of steel lines, back of plates etc. Pulled old MC, not very difficult on these trucks.

I got the new MC ready with 1 plug, 1 fitting for main brake line and the brake light switch. I then bled the MC on the bench, chased the threads on the 3 mounting bolts, as I did not have any new 3/8 UNF nuts and bolts. I installed MC, topped it off 1 more time with brake fluid, and voilà, instant brakes, well there seems a little air may be in the lines. I still need to install the new front brake hoses, and bleed the entire system, all should be good after that.

I have not done a whole lot lately, been a super long cold winter, was nice to do some much needed work on the old heap...

attachicon.gifIMG_0322 (320x240).jpgattachicon.gifIMG_0325.JPG[attachment=43807:IMG.just finished disc brake from charley. jeep 98 Cherokee rear end. have Cherokee 98 duel master but brakes are so good

You driving that fast, or hauling a trailer down hill or something....LOL Glad you like your new brakes... On a 47 Chrysler I sold last year, I rebuilt the whole braking system, could put a passenger through the windshield if I was braking hard. The stock brakes on it were quite good.

I have modern self energizing drum brakes on the rear of this truck, brakes are decent, but certainly not like disc would be....

When Tims calls, we haul.  Backed Phoenix in the alley after the morning rain and gave it a quick wash.  I have a set of chrome rims so put two on for a look. They are smaller tires 215 x 65 R15 on the front and 225 X 70 R15 on the rear. I do not like the chrome look on this truck nor the smaller tires.

I couldn't find too much work to do on my blue truck, so I installed a wooden clothes pin to the fuel line an drove to a local car show. It didn't take too long before someone asked me to explain the wooden clothes pin - who's to say whether it's effective or not in stopping fuel vaporizing?... it's still a good conversation point!

A wooden clothes peg?????????????

Okay, Davin, I know I am new to all things mechanical, but this is has me stumped /bluffed (i had to check to see it wasn't April 1st).

Luckily down here in Oz it is 26 April so Davins outing counts.

The wife is away for a few days and I had in mind doing some household "renovations" while there is no Management looking over my shoulder :P however now I will have to do some work on the Fargo :D

ggdad, that is one beautiful hood ornamment.
