At the time I was routinely at work BT six AM til at least noon. Eight weeks later the rubbish was gone and a new building was up, I worked that hard, the clean up was hard work. Other members have experienced similar set backs, fire, tornado, etc. so I'm not alone on that. What I did not expect was that the total effect of that fire was a delayed, there must be an adrenalin surge that sustains for a time and when that expires it must take with it a huge amount of energy which is not quickly replentished. pflaming Posted March 5, 2015 Author Report Posted March 5, 2015 Fuel tank puzzles Paul. Checked out all the wiring, all checked out so went to start the truck and have glass put in tomorrow. QUESTION?MYSTERY: Two weeks ago I put 7 gallons of gas in the tank. The truck has not moved nor run since, yet the tank is now empty. There has not been one drop on the floor during this time. (1) someone is stealing it, unlikely since its been in the shop all this time, or (2) it is evaporating, or (3) ___ ? ____. Quote

Maybe it's still in the can with the intent of using it in the truck. I assume you're locking the building when you're not in it. Is it reading empty on the gauge or is it really empty? Quote
pflaming Posted March 5, 2015 Author Report Posted March 5, 2015 Went to supper, stepped back and checked from the tank forward, I had "cleaned up" the wireing around the electric fuel pump and inadvertently wired it backwards. " Now to let the fan clean out all the fumes before I proceed. All's well that ends well" William. . . Quote
pflaming Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) (1) IT RUNS, STARTS ON THE FIRST REVOLUTION, IDLES VERY QUIETLY AND STEADY, (2) grounded the park light bucket and now that light works, (3) so now I can schedule an appointment with the glass company and put in the windshield glass. pflaming Posted March 11, 2015 Author Report Posted March 11, 2015 Upgrades took more time than I expected but are completed and I'm pleased. Upgrades: 12 volt wiring, did it from scratch, alternator, solenoid push button starter, over/under taillights (custom made mounts), toggle switch turn signals with dash indicator lights, tach, electric fuel pump, and a "cat detector". Other changes include new front tires one size smaller than the rear, new glass, Quiet Ride sound deadening and insulation, new door seals, refurbished exterior. Will tidy up some things then photo-ops and then a 50 mile drive up to the Giant Sequoia Trees. That is a 6,000 ft climb in a 40 mile stretch. It's a good test prior to the 165 mile run to the BBQ. Pictures and video in a day or two. Cup of coffee is gone so, get a few winks of sleep before daylight. Chow! 1 Quote
pflaming Posted March 14, 2015 Author Report Posted March 14, 2015 Today started the engine, all is fine, tidied up the wiring under the hood an under the dash, mounted my artdecco hood ornament, nice bright head light rings, put the seat in place, new 4" x 5" outside mirrors on tube mounts, and hooked up the new tach. So when the glass company calls, I'm ready. Will do a photo op next week. 3 Quote
