wife's, times 35 cars of similar driving/parking characteristics. Now had you shown a 4 wheel drive jacked up truck with the front right wheel about 1l2 way between the rear bumper and the trunk..it would be where I work..and am sure you could see a brown trail of tobacco spit from the truck front door to the walk through gate..at the local Wal-Mart, imagine the pictures of the Tsunami wake in Japan..( with apologies to the Japanese)

Drive them to the post office and where ever else you tend to congregate, tell lies, and solve the world's problems every day. :P

Ben you're nicer I was going to say drive to McDonalds and get a senior coffee.

Interesting... Well... First, my car has to be together, that's not gonna happen by Friday. Second... It might snow.

FWIW, we overlook the old Franklin car plant, or actually the high school where the Franklin car plant was. Across the street, they built parts for Model T Fords and the building we're in was once a GM plant back in the twenties and thirties.

So, even if I can't drive my old car to work, at least I can claim some old car history.

Hey Young Ed ...Don't knock that Senior's Coffee at Big M - 83 cents Cdn where I live incl. GST, plus they cheerfully give refills...Heck, you can sit there all day drinking coffee and shooting the breeze...:D

Don't know about Friday, but tomorrow is the weekly meeting of the Xerox Romeo's (Retired Old Men Eating Out). It's raining and 38 degrees now, so don't think the '37 will be going out for a while.

There is a group of Model A owners in my area that drive their cars to breakfast every Friday who also call themselves "ROMEOS". I guess the term and phrase "retired old men eating out" is more common than I thought.

Or maybe it is yet another club. :)

I'm with the other retirees.......I see the car every day as we pass thru

the garage whenever we leave or return to the house.

Gotta put a different carburetor on it before further driving.....the current

one seems to have a crack in the side and gas leaks out a

bit. Will drive it on some future occasion.

I dont have a cup holder in my car so I would have to park the very hot coffee between my legs. I see a lawsuit in the making when I am shifting gears while going over a bump and around a corner. This might be a good idea:D

As usual, this is an easy one for me; as I am either working in my part time job, doing meals on wheels, volunteering at the AZ Humane Society, inspecting all of the rust free old cars in AZ for future investing and/or testing out the cleanliness of the local bar's/saloon's beer taps; I shall do my best to uphold the "drive yo ride" day.

I just wanted to say that I had a faded red hard rubber/something P15 convertible toy, bought at a 2nd hand store, when I was a little boy. I see them sometimes on the bay. Every time I see your convertible, I think of my red childhood toy. Thanks.

John are you in the old Rockwell Plant??? Here is a pic of the Franlkin works.

1910franklin-auto_factory_postcard.jpg

the guy that painted my car whose name is Franklin, has the stainless steel script sign that was on the engine plant that was in Liverpool.

Yep! We've been there since we started the business in 2000. It's an interesting building, one of the first stressed concrete buildings in the world. It has 21" thick concrete floors! It was first built in the 20's by Brown Lipe to build differentials and gears. GM bought the business and was there until Porter Cable bought the building, then Rockwell bought Porter Cable. It sat empty for years after Rockwell left and then it was refurbished in the nineties.

The view on the postcard is about the same as through our side window.

Was that Rex Franklin?

Bob, If you want I have a D6G1 Carter you can have. All it's missing is a float pin. The float has a hairline crack. The rest of the carb's in good shape. Give me your address and I'll ship it to ya.

Thanks Tom. I got a couple used spares just a few days ago from a

fellow not far from here. Have mostly cleaned one up after it sat on

his shelf for several years. The other is partly cleaned up. I'll try one

of them and see what happens. Also was able to find a carb rebuild

kit in stock at O'Reilly Auto store for about $24. Seems to have everything

except a new float. Don't know that I really need a new float though...old

one is probably ok.

The rest of the thing is - I've never tried to work on a carb so I may look

for someone locally who's a better mechanic then me. My neighbor who

lives across the back yard used to rebuild carbs for people, but he now

has health problems and can't do it any more. He did the current one for

me a few years ago.....it was really handy.....just hand it over the fence.
