1940plymouth Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Why is it that is some photos that are posted, the license plate numbers are erased? Thanks, Bob Quote
moparbenny Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 so one morning you don't wake up in a bathtub of ice with a kidney missing.. Quote
louie the fly Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Coz big brother is watching and some people are paranoid. It's probably also good manners to do it if it's not your car. I could be wrong. Personally, I wouldn't bother (if it was mine) because I have nothing to hide & nothing to fear. Louie Quote
Frank Elder Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 For the same reason people cut their address off of magazines when they donate them to the doctor's office, to protect themselves from people that would take advantage of them. You can call it caution or paranoia, they don't want someone to know where they live. Quote
tinlizzy Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Ya if they don't know their name they can't look them up in the phone book. In todays world nothing is safe. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 i would say here in ny its for theft. if you see a nice car and you can read the plate, you can find out where the car is garaged then go and take it and that location. so i would say for theft here in nyc. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Paranoia:) What's the difference if you read the plate when its driving down the road or if its on a posted photo? Someone wants to know where you live, all they have to do is follow you home. Besides, access to the State registration systems is limited to "need to know". You can't just sashay into DMV or a police station and request that a license plate be run. If you suspect someone ran your plates, the police can tell you exactly who did it because thoses systems can only be used with authorized access, and that access is supposed to be closely guarded. Cops and clerks can be fired for running plates unless its for legitimate purposes. Quote
greg g Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Don't worry Bob, they know where you are, how much you are worth, and what color underwear you have on, and what you bought at Mc Donald's last week without your plate number off the internet. Besides with the little RFI chip that they put into you with your last flu shot, your liscence plate showing is the least of your worries. And be asured, your 16 digit personal data account that you have been boiled down too, continously updates as you use your credit/debit card, your library card, your grocery/hardware store extra value card, and spend those social security dollars around town. And you folks with all those favored customer tags hanging of your key rings, you might as well have a flashing beacon on you head. Have a happy day, and don't worry if you do anything shady, we'll know...... Quote
desoto1939 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Add this to everyone and anyone knowing were you are going. Just look at the highways and you will see cameras on the poles. They say this is for traffic control but they can follow you from your house to you next location. Big brother is wating over your sholder. And most everyone has a cell phoen that has a camera built into it so they can take your plate number and you willnot even know it. Also they now have cameras that take your license plate number incase you run a red light. In the next couiple of year s the Atlantic City expressway and the GArden state parkway in NJ are doing away with toll collectors. If you do not have easypass then they will take a picture of your tag and then send you a bill inthe mail. Now Big govt can find you at al ltimes. Rich Hartung Quote

Edward Roberts Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Got news for you all: The Guv'mint don't do none of that stuff fer trackin' yer every move... too expensive. When they want to know where you are, where you're going, what you're eating, who your kids are, which relative just died... they just look at your Facebook page. It's already there. Quote

Don Coatney Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 A co-worker always wraps his cel in tin foil at night. He firmly believes the above! A good friend just told me today that the "alarm clock" on his cell phone still wakes him up even though he has turned his cell phone off. I will tell him to try the aluminum foil trick to see if it actually works. Quote

Edward Roberts Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 That is one absolutely beautiful photo! The subject matter helps, but what composition. Did you do that yourself? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Yes that really is a good photo. But that truck is so nice that it would make most any location look good. Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks Edward and Neil. Actually I've been wanting to take that photo for a couple of years now but kept missing the red leaves or didn't have the camera along. Finally got it ! Quote
