  1. Noisy little so and so isn't it? Some of those crashes must have left a mark.
  2. Not to worry, another one will be along.
  3. Welcome, lots of good advice here.
  4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-Imperial-Imperial-America-Rocket-1956-Chrysler-Imperial-Imperial-America-by-Lewis-deSoto-/231466295187?forcerrptr=true&hash=item35e4775f93&item=23146629 Won't let me link to the item directly but it is the first on the list. New to me for sure
  5. I bought a replacement seal from NAPA for my Ranco for my 52 Plymouth and although I tried to follow the instructions very carefully I was never able to get it to work right again. Haven't had a heater for a while. No big deal but just information for those who are going to try their own to be careful.
  6. Does the noise continue as you drive or just a short time? A clunk might be a U-joint. And see if as the car is rolling if the noise goes away if you push the clutch back. Also see if the noise gets louder if you go faster or seems to speed up.
  7. My late brother in law lived for many years in Buffalo and from the way he talked about winters there I would think that Maine would be easier to deal with.
  8. Where is that car at? My daughter's boyfriend is moving to Joplin tomorrow and I would bet he would get a kick out of that car.
  9. I heard that something like 100 people have been saved by this device. I haven't been in a small plane in years but sure would feel safer in one with a whole plane chute.
  10. I will never for any reason even think about looking into a Craigslist ad. My neighbor has bought cars through them and pooh-poohs my concerns but not for me.
  11. This happened to me. Took a very long time and finally a professional Mechanic who really as he explained it"stumbled" over the problem to fix.
  12. My daughter has always liked cars. She wants my Plymouths when I am gone. I am proud of her.
  13. Once again a solid reason while I am still driving my 4800 dollar Volare and my 3000 dollar Cranbrook.
  14. Although it is way after his passing I know you still think of him all the time. We have two dogs, a cat, 5(yes 5) rabbits(don't even ask how that story started). So I know about attachment to animals of all kinds.( I cannot even say Pet Owner anymore, they are part of your family) Please accept our regrets at his passing and happiness for your time with him.
  15. Brilliant!!!!!!
  16. Both my cars (1952 and 1980) are carrying what Illinois calls Extended Basic Antique plates. That means that I can drive anywhere I want from April 1 to Nov. 1st. After that I am limited to Shows, repairs and "tests" whatever that is. I have my cars insured with my regular insurance company. They do not care how much I drive or where. The cost is not prohibitive The only requirement is that I have a regular car insured as my daily driver. Again, it(the daily car) can sit for 95% of the time and they don't care. In the summer I drive my 1980 car almost every day. And my 1952 at least a couple of times a week. In the winter I put the cars on comprehensive only and it cost about $10 per month per car. I did have to have each appraised when I first insured them and if I feel that the value has greatly increased I need to get another appraisal. The cost of insurance for the car is of course based on the appraisal. I remember talking to one of the agreed value companies(and I would name it if I could remember which one it was) and the sales rep told me that the car was only insured while I was driving it, sitting with it at a show. or in my garage. The also said that If I was more than a days drive away from home they would cover that too. I know from what I read most of you prefer Agreed Value but I do not like the stipulations that i have seen on many of these policies.
  17. I can only hope that it wasn't on the way to the Hot Rod Shop.
  18. Funny
  19. The same wishes to all here and their families and friends.
  20. I can certainly see where this statement comes from: "Car show winner. Fun to drive. A hard to find and very rare car" I agree that I have never seen anything like it before. Although I have lead a sheltered life.
  21. Just a few years ago I sent a check to a guy in Pennsylvania for a brake drum for my 52. Met him on Bill Ward's old "Old Plymouths Forum". Couple of weeks later, here it comes, in good shape and just as he promised. I bought three or four other items from him for about a year or so and then didn't need anything else. i am so old I can easily remember going to a stranger's house with $500-$1000 in my pocket to see a car. Now I am not liking the idea of Craig's List. What this says about where we are as a nation is self evident. And I don't like it.
  22. I had two Alpines in the late 60's and mid 70's. Not both at the same time. Fun cars but a lot of upkeep. I still regret not having enough money to trade my 66 Alpine and $1000 for a 66 Tiger. Back then $1000 was real money
