  1. Say what you will about the old VW's, their ad people were the best.
  2. Unless tires wear out or get dry rot cracks I try to use them as long as I can. I run radials on everything and my biggest concerns have been dry rot and broken belts(wire sticking out of the side.). I do use either silicone spray or tire dressing to try to protect them
  3. I love to visit places like that. Thanks for posting the pictures
  4. I too was surprised by the torque amount of the hubs as well. Although an old Rambler Ambassador I once had had the rear axles at something like 350 Foot Pounds. Had to borrow a four foot long wrench from a friend who worked at our local Nuclear Plant(gone now, friend and plant).
  5. I think I gonna leave mine the way it is, didn't want to take the drums off again anyway.
  6. Not to be anymore of a stinker than I have to be I could not help but note the suggestion about putting a little grease on the taper of the rear axle. On the car side I have been informed that this is a very bad thing to do. Are the trucks different or is this simply a disagreement in the correct way to do things. Wondering because I also put a small coat of grease on the axles of my 52 Cranbrook to make removal in the future less "fun". And am hoping not to have to disassemble the rear drums again to remove the grease as has been suggested.
  7. I have back flushed cars years ago but stopped when an old mechanic told me to be careful because it was possible that the materials loosened but the back-flushing might be caught in the heater core due to the small tubes and plug it up.
  8. Looks great. I used to paint cars in my spare time, haven't in years. Used Acrylic Enamel. Not sure how I would do in Base/Clear.
  9. My Daughter's Mother-in-Law sent this to her to send to me. She is from England and keeps closely in touch with many activities that go on there. https://www.youtube.com/embed/huQhqXiB8O0
  10. And the worst(best?) part is someone will buy most of it.
  11. Maybe these guys? http://www.datatags.com/
  12. I am continually amazed how much stuff costs. I sometimes wonder if any of it sells, then remember that they only have to sell one to be so far ahead the rest doesn't matter.
  13. Mine turned out to be the intake manifold gasket when it did the same as yours. Not too hard to change.
  14. You bought it to drive it, enough said!
  15. I got mine from Then and Now Automotive in Mass. Worked well for me. No problems
  16. Really fun Idea. I can imagine some folks would react violently should their cars be the victims though
  17. I went to our local car show one time about 5 years ago. They made it very clear to me that my 1980 Plymouth really wasn't what they wanted there. Place me way away from the action with the jeeps and other different cars. The hoppers were closer. Only Mopar that won anything was a Plymouth Road Runner that had been customized to the hilt. Everything else that won was Chevy or the occasional Ford. Even my neighbor who has a mild custom 55 Chev quit going as his car just didn't seem to meet standards. Friends caring for friends seemed to be the mantra there. I never went back. In fact I cannot recall going to a show since I left the region club that I used to belong to. I want to drive the cars, not sit and be part of the scenery.
  18. No, No you can't... But that doesn't keep us from trying!
  19. Got a dozen this morning.
  20. Once again I should look before opening my mouth. $395 and up is the price.. Sorry for the inaccurate information.
  21. I believe that the guy advertising in the Plymouth Bulletin is still in business. I think the cost is about $165 or so?
  22. Good for him. I remember having to make a whole track for my son's Cub Scout unit back in the mid 80's.
  23. I make a point of going into the garage and pumping the clutch pedal and brake pedal on mine a couple of times a month.
  24. My 37 year old daughter wants both my Plymouths. None of the others care a whit about them. Gonna have to have driving lessons for the 52 soon though.
  25. In winter I use my 2001 Astro AWD. In Spring, Summer, and Fall almost everyday my 1980 Volare 4 door. Occasionally my 52 Cranbrook. Wife's car is 2012 Kia Soul.
