  1. Sometimes around here if you blink you miss Spring.
  2. It not only is still there but just recently has had a herd of Bison reintroduced there. On another note, yesterday it was 30 degrees and snowing in the morning and by late afternoon it had jumped to 70 degrees and sunny. However by 8 PM it was back to 40 degrees and this morning 30 degrees again. Welcome to NE Illinois.
  3. Where did you go to do that?
  4. Light snow here today, now 30 degrees
  5. That's why I really liked it when the Illinois Tollway went form an open median to a concrete wall several years ago.
  6. I did the POR 15 thing in 2003. Pain in the butt to do, but has worked well with no further issues. However I would have got a new tank if I could have at that time.
  7. I re-positioned the seat in my 52 Cranbrook back about 4 inches and with the stock wheel Chubby Old me has a lot of room to steer easily. Very easy to do. Only took a couple of hours.
  8. I ordered a set of battery cables for my 1952 from them about 12 years ago. Knowledgeable people and a good product. Still using the cables. Fast shipping if I remember right.
  9. I drove the 405 from a ways north to LAX in 2013. Your are right about a rough road. I thought I was home in Illinois.
  10. Please accept my apologies for incorrectly starting the new thread. I had only mentioned in passing about the horn and thus thought(incorrectly) that a new thread was in order. Thank you for input
  11. I've managed to get my self into. I know some of you have seen my thread on my turn signal problem and many of you have offered suggestions. You might have seen a comment I made about the horn on my 52 Plymouth being another thing that didn't work. Well, today idle hands being the Devils Playground, I decided to take a look and see what if anything I might be able to do with the horn. Now I want to say that automotive electrics is my weakest area of repair skills. Still I decided to see what I could do. I was able to check and see that both horns worked when 6 volts were put directly to them. Loud and long. They I looked at the schematic in the book and traced the wires from the horn relay to the horns themselves. Then I tried putting 6 volts directly to the horn on the connection on the relay. The horns blew. Great I thought. Perhaps I can rig up a temporary horn button and use that till I take the steering wheel off to check the aforementioned turn signals. I decided to use the radio power source as the radio didn't work anyway. I removed the wire from the horn button(lower right on the relay if I read the diagram right) and proceeded to run a wire to the new horn button and connected it to the radio feed through an inline fuse. Before mounting the button i decided to check operation. Nothing. I checked volts to the horn button, 6 volts. Then with the button pressed checked from either side across the button. 6 volts. Then from the feed side of the button to the relay with the button pressed. 6 volts. Checked continuity from one end to the other. Good continuity. Put 6 volts to the relay again. Blat, horns work. push button, nothing. I did notice while checking that one of the terminals(center one) is hot all the time. Anyone have any idea what I have missed? Should I have just got a 3 or 4 wire 6 volt relay and just used that? I am confused. I also asked my neighbor who has had his own home based repair shop for years and also his brother who was a maintenance man before he retired and they both seem to think my plan would work. Thanks if you can help.
  12. Good Idea. Will do when I pull the wheel
  13. Factory. Not sure I want to take the wheel off at this point anyway. Might tackle it when driving season is over or just before it begins next year. We all know how these things can go.
  14. Another thing that doesn't work.
  15. Tried adding a new ground to the socket with a jumper today. No change. Only the right rear wont flash. Everything else works great. Even tightened the socket a little on the bulb to prevent movement. I am beginning to suspect the theory of a broken or lose wire under the steering wheel. I don't want to tackle that now as I want to drive it some more this year. I also tried a new bulb just in case, no help.
  16. Dave Stromberg at Fat Fendered Relics has a generic clip for a very reasonable price if anyone else needs some. http://www.fatfenderedrelics.com/
  17. I can only say that the Master Electrician who ran new wires to my garage so I would have 220 volts said he only uses stranded. The solid is more trouble than it is worth.
  18. Thank you as well
  19. Thank you both, I had forgotten about Neil, I bought a few items from him several years ago.
  20. Since I am probably using the wrong phrases in my site searches can someone take pity on the Elderly and let me know which suppliers that they know of who stock the Fender trim mounting clips for my 52 Cranbrook. Parts number is 1367 389. You will earn my unending gratitude, at least till I forget. Thank you
  21. Absolutely.
  22. And a handsome devil he is!!! Doesn't look a day over 3.
  23. If you haven't already done so, you might make this same request on the AACA site. I often see similar request there.
  24. AACA people, nice as they are, seem to be mostly interested in 30's and 20's cars, at least in the Chrysler forums. I ended up here when Bill Ward got out of the Website business several years ago and the site he had seemed to go dead( still there, just not very busy). The Plymouth Owners Club site is for all practicable purposes Dead. Just a few posts a month, mostly by the same few people. Don't know why, the Club is a great resource.
  25. Regretfully most likely empty
