1. Bob , I can't find most of that paperwork right now but I remember new timing chain and sprockets , brass water distribution tube , pistons , oil pump , valves , valve guides , machining surfaces on manifolds and head and top of block , machineing the cylinders , all parts and gaskets , etc . He set the valves too and I was surprised when he said that I would never have to touch valve adjustment again ... and I haven't . I did purchase a new water pump and installed that myself . He said to not let it idle on initial start up .
2. Bob , Stockton engine and machine , 826 North Union Street , Stockton . 209-466-4547 . I can't find the old guys name , ask for the guy with all of the experience on mopar flat heads . He did mine 2 years ago and I am happy with it . He isn't fast or cheap . With tax I paid $2780 . He supplied all parts . There was only 3 guys in the shop , the older guy and 2 younger guys , the shop was kept up nice in an old building .
3. Bob , I know a good one in Stockton ca . Let me know if you want contact information .
4. I didn't have mice in my vehicle , I had spiders , several different kinds that I squashed as I found them , including black widows . I didn't want to spray but there was one last large black widow living under the dash in a spot that I couldn't reach so I sprayed that one . The next day I found her dead body hanging by one of her single strands of silk under the motor , almost touching the garage floor . I sure had lots of spider webs .
5. There is one more train of thought on this ; They might have wanted to save money by installing just one lock .
6. One way to find too much slop in the steering is to have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look underneath to see what is moving and what isn't moving . I wonder if something was damaged at the exhaust shop .
7. ANNOTHER ATTEMPT . http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/spotty_bucket/?action=view&current=foglights002.jpg
8. "http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u30/spotty_bucket/?action=view&current=foglights002.jpg" target="_blank"> Young Ed , Here are a couple of photos of how my fog lights are mounted . The PO drilled into the fenders to mount turn signals , I wouldn't have done that .
9. Less than 200 miles ? How about returning them to the seller for replacement or repair ? Sometimes not possible . How about bringing them to a reline shop for glueing ? The Gorila glue is great stuff , but as Tim says , there are safety issues . I carved a set of brake pedal pads out of an old tire and glued them to the top of my brake and clutch pedals with Gorila glue about a year ago and they haven't come off , they just set flush on the pedals with no overlap . I recently bought an emergency brake band on epay with new lining riveted on and the lining wasn't put on very well , I might glue that on but that is not used the same way as your regular brakes .
10. Young Ed , That looks like it is of better quality then most . It must be american made ? How many wires ?
11. I grew up in nothern Wisconsin and there was a running joke " I think summer will be on thursday this year "
12. Jim , Put some sealer on the screws too . If you do drop your tank , put a little air pressure in the tank and spray soapy water on the sender and watch for bubbles . Not much air pressure though , you don't want to CAUSE a leak .
13. Greg , I am sure someone here knows the answer but in the meantime just experiment with the levers in the different positions . Is there a cover that can be easily removed to visually inspect the gears for missing teeth , etc .
14. Probably rebuilding your old one is the way to go as some of the new ones have had a pin or shaft come out of place . If you do decide on a new pump , find some way to secure the shaft before installation .
15. Also make sure your idle speed isn't too high .
16. steamer , Go over to the P-15-D24 site and do a search on timing cover water leaks . The short answer is , yes , some of the bolts do go into the water jacket . the bolts are location specific and have some type of special marking on them and use special cupped sealing washers . Some of the meaages in that thread are dated 7-1-07
17. If you think everything is correct and it still will not start , move each one of your spark plug wires over one notch .
18. My wife cleaned my shop in the garage for me by moving everything around and putting things in bags . ( they like to put everything in bags ) When I couldn't find anything , I told her that if she ever did that again , I was going to clean the kitchen for her when she wasn't home . No more problems .
19. That valve sequense is correct . I am going to guess that 13 on your intake valves would be a little too loose .
20. I just looked at the site for Tanks Inc and the 41-48 dodge & plymouth alloy steel tanks are only $215 . That sure beats cleaning out an old one .
21. For another solution google Dorman 568-010 . It is a freeze plug made from brass , steel , and copper with a nut on the side for tightening . Works great in tight spots . I used black RTV sealant on mine .
22. Because it is left hand thread , the problem might be hard to fix . Call a local machine shop or two and explain the problem and see what they say .
23. Be sure to read the information in the Tech Tips section on the old p15-d24 site . Just look for the heat riser section . When installing a new heat riser kit it is recommended to tack weld the flapper to the shaft to prevent future disconnection , it is also attached with screws . Yes , you must pull the manifolds to access the heat riser . Several years ago when I looked for the best price on the kit , Vintage Power Wagons had the best price .
24. Go ahead and pull it yourself , save some money and have some fun too .
