  1. If it doesn't have a drain plug you will have to use a suction gun . I haven't seen one without a drain plug though .
  2. A choke or throttle cable works well too , in a drill .
  3. 6 volt halogens are available too . Use with a relay .
  4. I met a guy that recently purchased a 1948 Plymouth , so I gave him the address for this site so that he might join in . He had a collection of old California license plates including some that were labeled across the top " San Francisco Worlds Fair 1939 " He gave me a 1941 plate , see photo . The 1941 plate is about 2 inches wider than a modern plate .
  5. Number 19 on a 1940 Dodge truck . I don't know which cars are the same .
  6. My guess is that the guy who relined the shoes did it with sloppy workmanship . If it isn't broken , don't fix it .
  7. The legs install and can be removed easily , just squeeze the legs toward the center to make space . I have seen several with 5 legs installed .
  8. In the Roberts ( I am not related ) Motor Parts catalog , catalog number 20 , there is a sealed throw-away filter listed at $45 . Item number 45 on page 14 . My catalog might be old though . Or just put in the filter style so that you can change the element .
  9. That makes sense as the oil level is below the seal when the engine isn't running .
  10. There could be an obstruction in the line or the tank or in the fuel pump itself . Some members have mentioned a small filter inside of the pump . Try blowing compressed air back into the tank to see if the flow is returned .
  11. There is a lot of information on the subject on line , and it is a very large complicated subject . Here is a link to one source ; www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/051315/will-vs-trust-difference-between-two.asp
  12. You guys have been talking about wills . If your estate is sizable , it will will go through probate court and the government will take a huge amount of the proceeds . The answer to preventing all of that loss of value is a trust .
  13. MZ- 4133 fits 1946 - 1948 Dodge , also 1946 - 1948 Plymouth . From Auto-Lite catalog .
  14. I once spoke with the owner of a large , very old alignment shop and he mentioned over - sized king pins . Like it was a common thing . Perhaps that is what you bought from AB . Can anyone else comment on over-sized king pins as replacements ?
  15. Well if things go south on ebay you can get your money back . At least I have always been able to . It isn't always pleasant . One of those sellers mentioned that his set included pins 626975 .
  16. There is a set of pins only on ebay but I think that you want the bushings too . So see ebay numbers 173240029674 and also 360810058730 for mopar sets 933435 . As you have been having so much trouble , I would ask the sellers to measure the pins before purchase . Do you have a parts list to verify the king pin set for your vehicle ? It looks right to me but you need to verify .
  17. Look at ebay number , he might have more than one . 192999049502
  18. Here are Auto-Lite part numbers for the IAT-4011 distributor ; Vacuum Chamber IAT- 2023RG , cap IAT-1033 , rotor IAU-1016A , points IGW- 3028BS , condenser IAT-3076RA , breaker plate assy . IAT-2004RA . This distributor fits a 1951 Dodge truck B-3B and B-3C and and possibly other vehicles . I usually find my NOS Auto - Lite parts on ebay .
  19. As a side note ; The Ford model T ' s were designed to flex ... a lot . That flex allowed them go through such rough terrain , the frame would just twist like crazy . My truck cab is mounted with springs on three corners and the gas tank is mounted with springs on one end for the frame flex . Your truck is probably the same .
  20. One of them died several years ago but the show goes on , at least in the newspaper and on line , i don't know about the radio broadcast .
  21. It has been my experience on the 1939 - 1947 Dodge trucks that both the tank sending units and the dash gauges are very prone to failure . The new replacement sending units only work for about 1 1/2 years and even the NOS dash gauges often need their points to be cleaned before they will even work . These points are very fragile . There is a new style replacement sender on the market with the float that swings up from the bottom in stead of swinging down from the top . You might have better luck with that model than I did . I fought with mine for a very long time and ended up throwing the #*! thing away .
  22. As a side note on radiator hoses ; On Car Talk ( formally the Tappet Brothers Click & Clack ) it was mentioned that todays radiator hoses are much better quality than earlier hoses and that replacement is not often needed anymore .
  23. Don't forget to oil the felt under the rotor too .
  24. The O P mentioned he has an Optima with 1000 CCA . Probably he has a 12 volt system as when I look up the Optima it doesn't show a battery in 6 volt with 1000 CCA .
  25. Are you sure that it has been welded ? Could it be a removable plug ?
