  1. At least you're not bouncing Parts Books off the wall yet. Feel for you. Like when I was trying to get that freakin crank hub off. ?
  2. Saw those, but the rod connecting the ends would use up some area. Like her idea of putting a restrictor in the cam oiling hole (only on the rear). Just need to make sure it stays in, and is not too small. Larger than needed is a good idea if a crust layer builds up like I found in mine. Need to be careful => on this block the cam holes were about .25". On the old block they were large, all .33".
  3. Waiting for my health to improve before I get to boring holes. Got all the stuff.
  4. Plus they recommend offsetting the 2 piece rubber type seals so the ends don't line up with the caps. Rear Main Seal Replacement | Fel-Pro Gaskets (felpro.com)
  5. Ran across this while researching rear main seals. Are they saying a PCV system might help oil leaks from RMS?
  6. Must be like me at 65. Can wash my hands or hear water running and have to run.
  7. Nearest Listed in Rock Auto is $136 for 1950 Plymouth Deluxe. 49 and below not. Don't know if 1950 and above would fit.

    Great Race

Map came thru but other pics didn't.
  10. Same coke in the gas ad here, plus the big breasted woman in the gym ad popping up here. And my step son doesn't live with us.
  11. What speed were you averaging, and did it take as long as you planned to get there?
  12. And beer cans falling out of the cabinet.. ?
  13. I tried and they didn't have any listed. Didn't know enough whether that starter would fit the Chrysler. It looked different than mine.
  14. Seeing this for $ 340 but Ebay has same looking type (but 1959-60) for $252. 12V Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, DeSoto Gear Reduction 12V- 3244GR (vintageautogarage.com) NEW IMI PREFORMANCE STARTER FITS CHRYSLER WINDSOR 1959-1960 1889297 MDT6001 | eBay NEW IMI PREFORMANCE STARTER FITS CHRYSLER WINDSOR 1959-1960 1889297 MDT6001 | eBay
  15. I've replaced radiators before (my truck) with universal type. Matter of upper and lower hose positions and sizes, thickness, height and width of the radiator and type of side metal flanges. Would think you could easily adapt flat metal to flat metal. Some have different layers of cores. I'd love to keep it original but I'm not paying a ransom if I can help it.
  16. Here's what my 48 Dodge starter looked like. https://p15-d24.com/topic/57806-starter-tear-down-then-bought-remanufactured/?do=findComment&comment=622391

  18. I was just checking with the bearings on the table out of the box. Long way to installing. Didn't know they compress. Any kind of data on how much they change, installed vs uninstalled? Thanks.
  19. Was checking out my camshaft (again) against the new bearings I have. Measuring all with .003 clearance, which is the max limit in the service manual. The 53 Dodge camshaft measures exactly the same as the 48 Dodge engine camshaft measured. 1st - 1.9980", 2nd - 1.9660, 3rd - 1.9350 Rear - 1.248" I would think if these camshafts were worn I'd be seeing different numbers between the two. I oiled the first new bearing with gun oil, rubbed it thin with my finger and tried it on the first journal. Can't feel any play. Anybody know if .003 in the book is like the ring gap clearances? Book says one thing but in practice might be more?
  20. Oh what an exciting day. Sitting, laying, walking around with a sciatic nerve bothering me. Took the new piston rings out of the box and oiled them. Were dry and just starting to get a rust film (can't even call it that, more a haze) on them, that wiped off with gun oil. Dated August 2020. Checked the bearings for the camshaft against the cam, best I could measure was .003" play. Tried one out lightly oiled, and couldn't feel play on the camshaft. Ho hum.. Also was comparing ring weights, most spot on, a few off 0.1 gram.
  21. A lot of good chrome going to waste.
  22. Got my cam & tappets delivered yesterday.
  23. Take a good cooler and plenty of water. We went on a trip a while back in our Corolla. 325 miles that was supposed to take 5 hrs according to Google maps took us 7 hrs with breaks. Good luck and have a safe trip.
  24. Messed up sciatic nerve in my left leg Saturday using a push mower around a steep small pond. Sat evening Sunday were painful days. Sitting here doing calculations on oil gallery sizes.
