Christmas Eve here brings us about 0F, snow on the ground, no wind, and the sun just setting. A perfect Christmas scene with the same forecast for tomorrow. I don't mind winter during the holidays but after New Year's, bring on spring. I will actually be heading right to summer later in the winter as I will be in Maui on holiday. Yeah!!

Any where from 30 to 50 below wind chill in the last month, we don't have any thing worse than cool beans......36 inches of snow, in the last 4 weeks.

Thank goodness we don't live in bufffalo...

We have "winter as usual", here in Finland. When I left the house in Dec. 20th we had hardly any snow - a week later when we came back I found ca. 20 inch snow on my drive way... and on the New Yorker. Temp. has been round 0F ever since. Some days a bit colder.

Tim, I like this thread. You only have to open the last page. Winter is here also in Alberta with temperatures at or below 0F and lots of snow, 15 cms or about 7 inches so far with more forecast. Any of you southern boys want an Alberta Clipper? I am not talking old Packards here.:P

My son drives the big semi grain trains (B trains) and usually does 800-1200 kilometres (500-750 miles) per day throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. This is about 60+ tons of semi, trailers, and load. He says the roads were the worst he had ever seen them with upwards of an inch of ice on them in many areas. Even graders could not remove it and it is too cold for chemicals to work effectively. He usually enjoys being on the road but not this last week.

Being down here where we have scorching summers doesn't look too bad now. We are being lulled along here with beautiful short sleeve weather...gonna be a rude awakening when a blue norther finally barrells down on us , but maybe it won't be for a while, anyway.

Well, coming from Minnesota and all, most know how cold it gets. I don`t mind it but the E-mails from my brother do get to me when it`s -20 out. He lives in Prescott AZ and when it gets to cold for him there he goes to his other place in Palm Springs---when it gets to hot he heads back to AZ. He always reminds me when the weather gets bad-----nice guy:rolleyes:............Lee

Well it rained here today, the same as it did 43 years ago today at our wedding.

We couldn't even go out for dinner because all of the resturants in the area

are closed.

We have been declared as a disaster area by the Govenor.

Fred I wish you would plant a really thick windbreak up there somewhere.....

Am I detecting there is a wee bit of cool weather blowing in to Oklahoma from the North.

Actually started to warm a bit above 0 f, and sunny, no snow like Minneapolis and Chicago, now that is snow, all the way to Murfeesboro Tenn.....LOL

Well we are way above 0 F , so I guess I shouldn't really complain....just been lower than the normal for December here, into the teens several nights past, and a strong cold North wind over the past weekend, (straight down from Manitoba, I'm sure), but now it's gonna be back up to 50's tomorrow, so not so bad after all then. Fred our last weekend was our 5th largest snowstorm in recorded history. Minneapolis public schools were closed both monday and tuesday. Buses couldn't get around the city streets.

(CNN story as well)

237 motorists were stranded for over 24 hours on highway #402 just east of Sarnia Ontario. Sarnia is not that far from Detroit and is just across from Port Huron. Rescued by helicopter and snowmobiles, the rescue was delayed because the helicopters were grounded and the snowmobiles were getting stuck as well. All motorists were removed from the vehicles and the Police and Army are trying to re-open the highway. This is the exact reason why motorists should have a full tank of gas when venturing out on winter roads. An emergency kit including blanket, cell phone, candle, booster cables, shovel, salt, food and water is a good idea as well.
