  1. Do a forum search for 'fender filler'. There is a rubber molding that fits in there to fill the gap and there was a rather lengthy discussion of a suitable part for it. I believe the part was actually a F%$# part but it works for these trucks.
  2. Is that the same as cerebral flatulence?
  3. That's the general idea but there should be a very specific sequence listed in your shop manual. My 41 assigns the bolts?nuts a number and then shows the sequence. I believe it starts in the center and works its way around. If you don't have anything like this in your books, let me know and I'll try to scan my book for you.
  4. Fred, Look into getting the Bristle Disks from 3M. Much better at stripping the paint you have. They're more expensive than what you have but last longer and work better. Several grits available. The 60 grit will eliminate that paint and leave a primer ready finish behind.
  5. The logo on the hat says it all!:D
  6. The shifter on my 52 was a 3/8" x 24 thread. It's the same as the '65 tranny I put in into it later.
  7. Hey Fred, Could you send some of that cool weather down this way? My thermometer read 98 this afternoon when I came in from the garage. This morning started out pretty cool at around 72 but changed quickly. If I remember correctly, winter was on a Thursday this year! AnthonyB
  8. As long as she sticks to only pecans.......
  9. Andy, I don't know about any other years, but the 318 poly I put in my truck has hydraulic lifters. The engine/tranny combo came out of a 65 D400 truck.
  10. Tom, I had a similar problem with my 41. I know I have a few extra wheels in a box somewhere. I'll take a look when I get back home. AnthonyB
  11. Was wondering when this would get fired up again. 75 here today but supposed to get down around freezing Thursday morning. I'm going to miss it as we'll be in Vegas.
  12. Here's a pic of my beast. 41 P11D.
  13. Dan, I forgot I saved a copy of the pic that Pete posted. Here it is and you can read the label for all the info. It is a Uni Motor and the numbers are 14560 12V 01134. I gave this info to the parts clerk and she crossed it to the number I gave you before. Hope this gets you what you are looking for. AnthonyB
  14. Dan, I just bought one from O'Reilly. It's the same one Pete Anderson (Blueskies) showed as a direct replacement some time back. It is the same size as the 6V motor and can be wired to run either direction. The part number is MRY 35560. Made in Canada. Cost was $25.99 plus shipping. I'm sure most other parts places could get the same thing. AnthonyB
  15. John, Say hey to Robin for me. I met him when he was still living in San Antonio and I was hanging out on the Sweptline forum. Does he still have that purple Sweptline? It was looking pretty good the last I saw it but was still a work in progress. Eat something for me and let me know if I enjoyed it. AnthonyB
  16. How about in the space for the radio speaker on the right side of the dash? I put a home-built clock in there so a tach should fit nicely.
  17. Tommy, Google the speedi-sleeve folks and check out their size charts. They have several hundred different sizes to choose from. I would presume that most part places wouldn't have too many in stock. I know I have to get one for my input pinion flange. I just don't want to tear it apart to get the measurement.
  18. Andy, Here's a shot of a 32' trailer with approx. 50 stationary engines that I saw on a recent trip to Kansas. Would loved to have had just one but he thought they were all made of gold.
  19. Milo, I got one from Roberts. I had the original on the left side and got another one for the right side. They had both styles, one with the LP light lens and the other with the solid bucket.
  20. Lakota, This looks a lot like a leak I had on my 41. I had replaced the outer seals but it kept leaking. Finally got around to replacing the inner axle seals and it stopped. You'll have to pull the axle but it's not that big of a deal. While you have it all torn apart anyway...... The seals should be available through NAPA or similar places.
  21. There were gaskets under the handles of my 41 Plymouth. I got new ones from Roberts but that was many moons ago.
  22. Bob - I had some input on the interior layout but the overall design was done by a temporarily imported yankee. Seemed to capture the Hill Country theme, though. Edward - I've spent a day or two in your neck of the woods at a little Army place between Ozark and Enterprise. Originally, the whole car was the dark green but a couple of Texas summers helped me to correct that. Just going with the light green dropped at least 15 degrees off the inside temp after a day of sitting in the parking lot. ruth1932 - Hot I can handle. It's the 212% humidity that's a killer! James - Spent a 'vacation' or two at N. Ft Hood. Along with several years of doing it full time. Finally got over it and found someplace with some A/C once in a while.
  23. Let's try this again. Haven't been tinkering on either my car or truck recently and haven't even had much chance to visit the forum as much as I would like. So I thought (I know. It gets me in trouble.) I would share the reason now that it is almost finished. Was assigned as the project officer for this a little over 5 yrs ago and we just had the Grand Opening last Friday. Decided to take the old beast for a drive out there since I can't take it for a drive in the beast. (It's a bit bigger than Cooper.) It will be nice to go out on a high note. 40 and a wake-up and this becomes somebody else's worry. I'll still get to brighten up the place with the old beast periodically.
  24. Exactly Tim. I am contemplating reposting a bit later. Been having a bad and LOOOOOOOONG weekend so not sure.
