Rockwood mentioned in another post, that the price of gas in Canada was $4.00 a gallon ! I think $3.00 here in Kansas is too high ! What is the price of gas where you guys (ya'll ) live ?

Varies between about $3.30 and $3.60 for 87 octane depending on where you are in my local area. But at 44 MPG on my "everyday car", which sits parked most times as I bicycle to work, it does not touch my budget very much.

Curacao : 1.94 Antillian Guilder for a liter.

If a gallon is 3.79 liters that would make a gallon 4.06 $

In the Netherlands I know it is even more costly (1.50 Euro per liter). 5.68 Euro for a Gallon (US).

That is 8.33 $ a gallon....

I know, they drive less and most car are less gasguzzlers.

But of the 1.50 Euro per liter 70 cents are gas taxes and there is another 25 cents VAT...so 1.05 for the government... got to love it...

I won't even mention the taxes on the new cars or should I ...

40% BPM - so 40% tax on the price as a special tax. Add that to the price and then pay 19% VAT over the total, yes you pay tax over tax....

We only have 91 and 95 octane here. 91 (regular) is NZ$1.79 a litre, roughly works out to about US$4.50 a gallon.

In Calgary, the price varies from $96.9 a liter up to $1.05 per liter.

(1 US gallon = 3.78 liters, so $3.66.2 to $3.96.9 per US gallon.)

Last week the high price was $98.9 per liter.

Pat, wonder how many Canadians who live on the border cross over it to buy their gas in the US. At those prices they could save $15 to $20 per tank with no customs duty on the return trip, depending on tank capacity.;)

In Vancouver BC it borders Bellingham Washington, Windsor Ontario/Detroit Michigan, Fort Frances Ontario/International Falls Minnesota. Emerson Manitoba/Pembina North Dakota, and the list could go on and on.....Fred

I worked my figures out wrong. In NZ it's around US$ 5.25 a gallon.

Yup, around $8.12 / gallon here.

Looks like FINLAND is leading the race with a handsome margin to the runner up for now...

May we get the numbers from Norway - Hello, Norway, this is Finland calling...

Norm, cross-border shopping is big big business. I know just south of here in Great Falls, Mont many of the merchants used to accept Canadian dollars at par when our dollar was worth less than the US dollar. US merchants are worried that the new passport regulations will put them out of business.

Gotta watch out for those Canadian terrorists ya know:D
