Kilgore47 Posted December 10, 2023 Report Posted December 10, 2023 I've been looking for original fog lights for a long time. Found these while surfing the web a few days back and got them. Guess I'll have to try and make brackets for them. Turns out there are a few of these out there right now. And some of them are reasonably priced. These have bulbs with Mopar stamped on them. Got these - with shipping - for less than 75 dollars. One of the bulbs looks like it is burned out. But that's OK because I mainly wanted them for show. I don't drive the car at night or in bad weather. If you take the time to look. There are people still selling old Mopar stuff for good prices. Not like some sellers that seam to be trying to retire from selling one item. Also found a dash clock for 100 dollars. The pictures looked good. Hope it's the same one that shows up. These are my Christmas presents. Quote
Sniper Posted December 10, 2023 Report Posted December 10, 2023 Somewhere on this forum is a part number for those bulbs, probably won't have MoPar stamped on them though. Found it Quote
desoto1939 Posted December 10, 2023 Report Posted December 10, 2023 I just did a search on ebay 4015 bulb and found six listings. Some are clear bulbs and some are yellow. Depends on what style you are looking for. Rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Kilgore47 Posted December 10, 2023 Author Report Posted December 10, 2023 I have found bulbs on line but they want more for one bulb than I paid for the pair of fog lights. Don't really care if they work. They are mainly for show. I have a couple of old tractor lights and one is amber. They will probably fit but it won't have Mopar stamped on it. And it will be a different color. I'll also check with the local auto parts. Sometimes they surprise me with what they come up with. More news later Quote

oldodge41 Posted December 10, 2023 Report Posted December 10, 2023 I have a set that I had on my car for quite a while. One is darker than the other in my set too, but they both worked fine. Quote

More news later Yes, we all have to agree that the parts are getting expensive. BUT, you have to remember that we are now into a 12v modern car world. These blubs are not easy to find and when you do find them as a seller you also have to pay a price to get them. Also remember that Ebay does take a nice percentage of the sale on each item so a seller has to also adjust his selling price just to cover ebays fees and then make some profit on the parts. Try looking for 1939 Desoto Parts, even at the major swap meets such as Hershey they are very few and when you do find something and a seller knows what it fits the cost is relative. So if you want to play inthe antique car hobby and have an older car then you are going to have to pay the prices even thought they might be higher than what you expect to pay. Supply and demand is the major player for all of us. Rich Hartung Quote
Kilgore47 Posted December 11, 2023 Author Report Posted December 11, 2023 I have heard of buying clear bulbs and painting them amber. My paint and body friend said he would paint them for me. If I could find amber in a rattle can then I could do it. I don't mind the pay to play for these old cars. But it's fun to find a bargain once in a while. 1 Quote

Kilgore47 Posted December 11, 2023 Author Report Posted December 11, 2023 I found an original amber bulb with Mopar on it for 25 bucks. It has a housing also. The housing is rough but it will be a spare. Thanks for the link Sniper. That confirms that they can be painted. 1 Quote

I thought it would be the glass that was amber, wonder how the NOS bulbs were made..... Quote

lemondana Posted December 18, 2023 Report Posted December 18, 2023 I found a good place to get about any sealed beam bulbs that you can think of. It gives all of the specs and uses, the different ambers, 6 volt, 12 volt 24 volt. I had several sets of driving and fog lights, in different sizes that I have gotten bulbs- (sealed beams) for. Very reasonably priced also it is replacementlightbulbs.com. The sealed beams are in the top group of headings, you might have to look a little bit. These are all NOS made in USA bulbs, mostly GE. And it tells you how many they have left when you click on the number. Let me know if you find what you need. Quote
