David T Posted December 6, 2020 Report Posted December 6, 2020 Still working out the bugs... body is welded onto a 2006 charger. The guy that was supposed to help me w/front fabrication did a crappy job so I will be redoing that i will post pics of inside tomorrow. 2 Quote
knuckleharley Posted December 6, 2020 Report Posted December 6, 2020 You figured it would be easier or better to do that, than just transplant the engine, trans, and rear to the 46 chassis and use a custom front suspension? Quote
David T Posted December 6, 2020 Author Report Posted December 6, 2020 It wasnt what i had in mind no. The guy “helping” executed without telling me (car was at his place), so essentially it is what it is. Take a little bit of fab work on front, but body is soundly attached. 1 Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 6, 2020 Report Posted December 6, 2020 I love the idea in theory I was going to try the same with a 300 but I don't care for the way too wide front track. I was going awd and nixed the whole project. Dakota front clip really is a better fit.....see how easily I spend your money and time...lol...good luck with your project. 1 Quote

THAT would result in a deep breath,or 117 of them if it were me. Might even involve lawyers and deputies before the dust settled and the blood was mopped up. Good on you that you handled it better. 1 Quote
RobertKB Posted December 6, 2020 Report Posted December 6, 2020 I hope all goes well under the hood. Trying to get at anything to repair it could require the removal of fenders. 1 Quote

I would recommend welding the hood to the fenders and making them one unit, and rigging them up as a tilt-front clip with pins in the rear to hold it down during normal operations. The only other practical option I see would be to remove the inner fenders and reinforce them with a brace near the top and the bottom that are located so they aren't in the way of parts replacements. That would also give you the advantage of creating header clearances. 2 Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 all tilt...hopefully the floor, firewall and inner fenders of the 06 is full intact and properly braced as the front suspension if 100% dependent on this metal integrity... Quote

That would Yep. Plan is to fab a mount for new radiator/fan, buy a standalone harness, set up gas tank, get it running, the screw around with putting fenders on. Quote

Adam H P15 D30 Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Ouch... I'd look for a body, get your old chassis back, transplant engine / trans / rear axle and start over. In the end, much less work. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 not so sure if retro would be a return path here....am sure the cutaway eventually resulted in even a bit more 'trim to fit' in the process to the point that you 'got what you got' end product and will either have to be dealt with in a slow and methodologically fashion to ensure strength, safety and function will all work together. There are no pictures of the firewall, inner fenders, torque box area for nothing else to call it, where floor/cowl/firewall join so making any call here is based on 'need' as we cannot see or discuss that which is not shown. Adam H P15 D30 Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Looking at the top of the firewall, front track width and engine placement would be enough for me. Donor P15s are not that expensive. Quote

Frank Elder Posted December 10, 2020 Report Posted December 10, 2020 You better get a strut brace to go from tower to tower....... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 10, 2020 Report Posted December 10, 2020 tower to cowl also...and is the charger firewall cowl and torque box still intact...if so and tied to the upper cowl could clean up but the pictures does not show any close up/details of these most important ties... Quote
David T Posted December 10, 2020 Author Report Posted December 10, 2020 Cowl looks to be generally intact. Quote
David T Posted December 10, 2020 Author Report Posted December 10, 2020 Its a great concept and i did flirt with it early on but i wish this ***** would have at least kissed me before he screwed me. Quote
