Hi all:  Does someone know of a source for the wipers for my truck?  They are 8 1/4 long.  I find lots of wipers online that are 8 1/4, but all have the incorrect connector.  There is no label on the blades, just a bunch of patent numbers.  The arm has a stampe "The Anderson Company".  I found some ACDELCO blades with the correct connector, but they were 10 inch.  Any help would be appreciated.

Almost got the heater installed, just waiting for a couple grommets from Steel, and then it is ready to install.  I hooked it up last weekend and it runs like a champ.  Very exciting!

Can you buy another 8 1/4 or longer wiper and just transfer the rubber piece over? Basically you need a refill rather than an entire blade.

Has anyone found new replacement arms? Mine are so sprung, their just no good. I did find refills back when I built my truck, but arms have always been tough

The ones at Robert's are the incorrect mount and the blade (refill rubber part) attachment is different than mine too-so I can't take it off and put it on mine.  The ones Robert's carries is what seems to be available from all sources I could find.

I went back and checked the factory parts book, and it verified what I have on the '48 & '49 in that they are sportin' 12" wiper blades.

These appear to be of the permanent pin variety, with modern equivalent part numbers of Trico 33-122 or Anco 20-12.  Rock Auto is showing that they carry both of these; O'Reilly and NAPA show that the Trico units can be ordered.

Below is a pic I took a few years ago that shows that the blades come almost in contact with the window gasket and divider bar if they are sweeping fast enough

I bought a set of arms and wiper blades from Andy Bernbaum. They sell a multi part adapter kit that fit my '52. They are the hook type blades with adjustable length arms. My truck was missing both wipers so I didn't have anything to start with.

Why do you need wipers in your country? I thought it was drier than a pop-corn fart where you live.

Those connectors on the blade are the same as mine. Hooks onto the arm. OReily/Napa had blades, as well as on line. Mine are 10". Remember seeing shorter, but can't say where now.

I'm surprised your wipers are so short. I remember mine being 12", and I think I'm running 13" wipers at the moment.

Merle

I don't know Merle. I wonder if the arms aren't original or something-but based on old photos I have I don't thinks so.  A wiper much longer than 8 inches will hit the rubber when it is resting position.  I have attached a couple of photos showing the wipers and how they sit on my truck (form 2010 when I got it up to work on)-the design is different than Don's, my wipers don't rest at the bottom.  In the 1952 picture of DD you can see where the wiper rested, also a photo from 1965, you can see they were the same then in both pictures, maybe a bit higher in the 52 and 65 photos than the contemporary ones.  It seems to me to be the correct configuration based on how the wiper sweeps, if it rested at the bottom like Don's truck then it would be returning about the time the blades were in the center of the window, if that makes sense.  I will check out how far they swing each direction, maybe they are just positioned wrong.  I looked at your truck photo and the wipers sit the same as mine.

on my early '48 with electric wipers, the arm length from pivot center to wiper pin is about 13 inches, utilizing a 12 inch blade, yielding a sweep pattern as shown:

this is the original glass, which has some wear scratches that verify this pattern

My wiper arm is the same length 13 in). I will play around with which spline the arm is on and see how that goes. My old window rubber had groves on the restind side from the wiper hitting it. Thanks so much for the photos

Always go see Wise Way Tu to find out the true answers on tough doge truck question.

8-1/4" are not the correct length!

The 1950 sales films show this....there are some earlier and later DT sales films too that show tons of details.
