Runs on beer!!

This is my "spare" parked at my sisters farm.  My brother in law is a collector of many things, including beer barrels. :P

Though even with petrol (gas) at AUD $1.20 per litre it is still cheaper than beer. A stubby or beer 375ml purchased in a 24 pack is about $2.00, so about $6.00 a litre :o

How does that compare to the USA?

What does a scooner cost these days in Sidney? If I recall it was a buck or less in 1968 when I was there.

I am not in Sydney but I reckon about $4.80 :(

If you go to a night club a stubby 375ml can be $8.00!!!

Nearly enough to make a man give up!!

Paid $5.25 for a 355ml can of beer in the bar here in Canada just the other day, but US in the case can be beyond cheap...I've picked up 24 cans for $19.99 before when we've been across long enough to bring alcohol home

yah, but that's probably not "real" beer...good beer is still spendy here!

As far as I knew there wasn't any "real" beer in the US? LOL Sorry to my southern friends, but Canadian beer just has a little more kick :D

tell that to the growler of 10.2% I have in the fridge right now!  :D

im not counting specialty beers...I can't stomach most of those. All the vendors up here used to carry XXX which was like 7.5%, and Wildcat which was like 6.1, only needed a 6 pack to get a good buzz on back in the day! For all the beer I drink anymore I prefer something that just tastes good

Well, it depends on many things here.  What 'flavor' of beer you like, a 6 pack, vs 12 pack vs a "case" (usually a 24 pack).    Personally, I was 'raised' on Lite (from Miller - often confused with skunk urine)..    not the best, even by US standards.   Now, I do Sam Adams for the most part - a little more expensive, but better tasting to me at least.    For the 'northern' beers, My taste buds are not a fan of Heiniken (sp?) - so if that's a 'better' beer, I guess you can keep it.   Never been down under, so only can guage by the imports.  Probably not a good measuring standard.   This brings up location - I lived in NH for the most of my life - but because of jobs, I've recently had the experience of NJ and now in CT.   NH and NJ were close for prices of beer.  CT is expensive by compare.  Sam is $3 or so more for a 12 pack here in CT.  Maybe I'm shopping in the wrong store, but that's what I'm seeing.   Glad that I still have family in NH, because I watch the sales there when I plan to visit and take a cooler when I go.   I get Sam on sale in NH for a 12 pack for around $11 - $12.   No coupons or store card needed.   Recently I stocked up at $10.99/12 pack - I got 4.  I'm good for about 90 days on that supply.

For the % alcohol difference between US and our northern brothers - if I am having something with that much alcohol - it better NOT be beer.  A good wine or something harder will fit that requirement.

To keep somewhat on track..    Doesn't the military make (or used to make) a 6 cylinder engine that literally would run on anything (combustable - not water)..?  Perhaps it was also sourced from Dodge..?  I think it was in the larger (like deuce and a half + ) trucks.

Currently I am drinking stubbies of "Pure Blonde"....a low-cal beer from our largest beer maker.  Not very manly I know ... ..but it tastes quite good. It cost AUD $50 for a 24 pack of 375ml.

Boutique beers are really taking off here. Interesting names "Beez Neez", "Fat Yak", "Two dogs"..........I think the last is a reference to the old joke about how Native American (aka Indians) chiefs named their sons......"the first thing I see when I walk out of the teepee in the morning..."  (apologies if this is offensive - moderator pls delete if it might be).

Look at it this way.

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's Father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink.

Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon

As I mod I was wondering why you hadn't moved this to the off topic area. But since its on the truck side, I figured you're the one to make the call.
