I am pretty sure you can get the glass filter bowl at your local better auto supply. If I recall correctly, there are a couple of different sizes so either measure the chipped one pretty well or bring it in to match. I know for a fact that my local better auto supply carries the gasket for that bowl.

But if using epoxy to repair an old bowl works for you. . .

Thanks Tod,

Mark and Jeff seem to have forgiv'n the ribbiing (in another thread) and both offered me a glass bowl.  Without knowing it I took your advice and just got back from what I call the only real auto parts store in town (L.A.) Your old sedan is way older than my truck and so you know how crosseyed most Chain Auto Store employees look at you when you ask for something.

Unfortunately I discovered I need more than just the glass bowl, I need the whole enchilada.  It seems the "IN" side of my Carter Carburetor Fuel Filter was compromised by a PO. Yes you can still buy an AC Fuel Filter, but since I've waited so long to run the factory correct setup, I want to be more like Mark and get the real deal.

In the interim, I'm going back to my Autozone "Historically Incorrect" In-Line Generic Fuel Filter.  It works and I have other things to do on my truck.  I'll post some close-up views of the original Carter Fuel Filter later tonight.

Thanks,

Hank :)

Hank;

I have an entire filter assembly you can have. It is not a Carter but it is a period item and works as it is supposed to.

I won't be putting it back on my truck so you may as well get use of it.

I use my cell phone camera for everything. It does very well for the most part unless I have shaky hands while snapping a picture. Its nice because I generally carry my phone with me everywhere, so when I'm in the garage wondering how something goes, I just look at the pictures on my phone. It saves the time of walking in the house and taking my shoes off, and getting to the computer, and so on. You get the idea. And Hank...sorry to tell you, but your vacuum line SUCKS!  :D

I use my camera every day for work and I too use the pics to study and sometimes see things I didn't notice before taking the picture. Here's a shot of the cam and roller rockers from yesterday while working on an old 1930's V-8 car engine.

I keep all work pics for future reference.

You one the trophy Merle for noticing those bad lobes! I don't but the customer has a cam issue. That unique engine only has about 10,000 miles on it too.
