Don Coatney Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 Just returned from watching the new Jackie Robinson movie titled "42". Great movie with a lot of old cars. But in one of the first scenes in the movie, and the year is 1946, they place a banner across the scene indicating they are just off Interstate 24 at a gas station. First Interstate highway was not built until 1956. A few scenes later and the year is stilll 1946 a 1948 Buick is used to transport Jackie. Then a few scenes later the year is 1946 and a 1949 Plymouth is spotted in the background. As I said this is a great movie but they just had a few dates that were incorrect. Worth the watch. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Oh well 99.999 percent of the public wouldn't know the difference between a Dodge and Chevy anyway! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 99.9999 percent of dodge owners could care less about the chevy...lol Quote
pflaming Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 The modern movie industry like it's politicians is not known for accuracy. Movies once were referred to as 'reels' because of their spins! Quote
TodFitch Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 The modern movie industry like it's politicians is not known for accuracy. Movies once were referred to as 'reels' because of their spins! Modern movie industry? They've had problems with accuracy since day one. Their business is to tell stories and entertain and the only level of accuracy they need is just enough for the average viewer to have "willing suspension of disbelief". Quote
pflaming Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Todd, you are correct. I read Mein Kamph by Adolf HItler. His hatred for the Jews came as result of the 'entertainment' they provided in Vienna the then capitol of the Prussian Empire which consisted of Austria, Poland, one other Baltic state and Germany. Germany had more people, resources, and land mass than the other three combined but only had one vote so the other three took full advantage of that. Hitler decided to change that and did. Had he put his ambitions into the economics of the time, instead of his hated for the three and the Jews, he may well have conquered Europe (and us) without firing a shot. Quote

Need to get a few facts straight. Germany was a separate country by 1871 having been unified by Otto von Bismarck, its first chancellor. It was not part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time of Hitler's birth. Hitler was an Austrian by birth and went to Germany a year or so before the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Will leave the rest alone. Quote
greg g Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Kinda like the Tv show Vegas, an awful lot of 63/64 cars and trucks around for a setting that is supposed to be 1960. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Kinda like the Tv show Vegas, an awful lot of 63/64 cars and trucks around for a setting that is supposed to be 1960. Even the main bosses Lincoln is atleast a 61. I think I've even seen some stuff newer than 64 in there. There's a 61 dodge taxi too. I do like the show but I'm afraid the move to Friday night isn't a good sign. Edited April 27, 2013 by Young Ed Quote
