The garage is now built........

.......but, obviously not finished. It took the framing fellows just two days

to put it up - after the floor slab was poured. It's 32 x 24 feet and

should be enough room to house the Plymouth, parts, yard stuff, and

other things one tends to keep. I still have one mini storage unit full

of "valuable junk" that needs to go directly to this garage. So it will just

sit til that time arrives.

Will have to buy such things as a new riding mower and also a push

mower, garden cart, maybe a power washer and some other items to

replace missing stuff.

Need to build a new work bench and storage shelves around the sides.

Eventually Dale will finish repairs and things on the Plymouth and it will

return home. I told the builder I wanted the 16 foot door as the convert

is hard to see out of when backing out and I didn't want to be worrying

about hitting an 8 or 9 foot single type door.

The house is mostly done except for small detail items which are getting

done along. It's nice to be back in Joplin and not have to make that

30 mile drive to Anderson where we stayed. That eventually got old.

Thanks to everyone on the Forum for their support after the tornado....it

was greatly appreciated.

Bob,

That's really great, and what's even better is that you and The Little Missus are okay to enjoy it! The little tree in the front yard is a sign of hope for the future and is a charming addition.

Thanks, guys.

About those trees.......we have one in the front yard that is taller than

the rest......given by our church to members affected by the tornado.

Then there are three smaller trees - two in front, one on the E side.....

planted by the Future Business Leaders of America volunteers.

In back are two trees, red maples, planted by our local Lions Club....

about 16 to 17 feet tall.

They are named for the man and his wife who were in charge of the

project.

The yellow plastic 5 gallon bucket is a watering device we were told

about...........just drill two or three small holes in the bottom so they

will drain and water the tree over a period of time.

Bob, glad to see that things are slowly getting back to normal. Congratulations on the garage! It will be nice when you get the vert back and you can enjoy the "new" car. You have been most positive and philosophical throughout your trials and tribulations and are an example to all of us on how to deal with adversity.

Looking good Bob. Jealous of that empty garage just waiting to be filled.

Hope to hear about you driving your convertible in and out of that garage soon.

Bob

Great to see the progress and don't doubt for a minute that you are glad to be done with the Anderson trip.

I will take issue with one thing you said. "It's 32 x 24 feet and

should be enough room to house the Plymouth, parts, yard stuff, and

other things one tends to keep."

Really? Very few are the garages/shops that are ENOUGH to house all our stuff. From what I have seen most car guys could build a 100 X 100 shop and eventually fill it up. :D

Bob, Good to see that you are getting back into "normal" life. A hard thing to recover from.

I think you left off a few zeros on the ends of those two numbers...

Yep, it should be interesting to see how long it takes to eat up the

available space.

But......that's the largest I could get away with.:D

Mary Ann thinks it's "huge" and says we could have a roller skating

party on that nice smooth floor.

There is also supposed to be a heat and a/c unit so it can be

usable at any time of the year.

Bob, Your new house and garage look great,I'm sure both you and Mary Ann will enjoy settling in..Best wishes. :) Ralph

Good to see that normalcy is returning to your lives, Bob.

I'm thinking that the lawn mower investments can wait until you have a lawn. Is there a time frame with the landscapers?

Or see if you can catch end of season sales/clearance. Sadly those probably aren't that far away.

Merle.......it's been so hot here (in the 90s and low 100s) that we will

wait til maybe end of Sept or thereabouts when it hopefully gets a

tad cooler to do sod. Our contractor is going to install a lawn

sprinkler system, and then lay sod himself. We will simply put up with

the dirt and assorted weeds til then. It is always windy here these

days....and with many yards still not in grass, it can kick up some

dust.

I've been keeping an eye on a specific mower at Sears....the same

type as our previous one.....waiting to see if the price drops to a

certain level. It's been on sale some, but I'd like to get it for about

50 bucks below that. :D
