Guest DeadBodyGuy Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 We ALWAYS name our cars. My 1969 LTD is named MAGGIE because she is big and black like a magpie PLUS the song Maggie May by Rod Stewart was playing the minute we bought her. Let me know if you name your cars and what their name is. Thanks chuck Quote
bob westphal Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I don't name my cars per se. However, the owner of the collection I maintain does name them. '56 Ford 2dr - Henry '61 Cad 62 2dr hardop - Fins '35 Ply Pj sedan - Walter '47 DeSoto - Groucho '39 Buick - Sally '76 Eldorado convertable- Rags ''84 Buick Park Ave - Beulah '72 Coupe deville - Clara '65 Buick Riviera - Riv '79 Dodge Adventurer 100 - Lucky '49 Chev 2dr - Louis '81 Mark IV - Whitey (renamed from Pimpmobile) Quote
Young Ed Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 My names are in my signature. I picked Luke and Leia from star wars because I was trying to come up with a brother and sister team that didn't really know they were brother and sister until later in life. The 51 is scrappy II after a car my dad had when I was little that my sister named scrappy. I think we had to call it scrappy because Dad wouldn't let us call it crappy like it was! Scrappy lives on in parts form in some of the other cars. And just for fun the story I wrote about Scrappy 1 in grade school. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 My 52 Club Coupe is affectionately known as Slobberbucket II after one my father owned when I was very young. Kirsten (aka Bigbutt) due to the big butt.. and the Suburban wagon is just know as the da 'Burb no name for the 48 Plymouth at the moment..have not worked with it enough to determine its character and thus provide a name. Guest DeadBodyGuy Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 It's funny how you say about not naming yet until you see how it acts. My wfe (who names everything) says we can't name the new '46 until she hangs around it for a while. LOL She doesn't even know if it's a boy or girl yet. chuck Quote
blueskies Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Mine are: The TRUCK and the PLYMOUTH I've never been too good at naming cars... Actually, the TRUCK has been affectionately known as 'ol Blue for the last 25 years by my family. I think my mom started that, back when it actually had some blue paint left on it... Pete Quote
Brad Lustig Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Cars are supposed to whisper their name to you. My Dodge is named Ol' Blue, Big Blue, and Ellis (grandfather's name). Definitely a male, though. Not sure about the Datsun. I think its name will come out when I'm able to drive it. I'm thinking it's another male, though. All of the cars I've had that had any kind of personality were all males... Quote
Ed Griffin Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I call all my vehicles various names, depending on the situation. Sometimes they even change sex's as in "Come on baby, you can do it" or " you son of a .." Quote
captden29 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 my convertible is called spongebob just because it is yellow and i like the cartoon.we have a stuffed toy of all the characters except sandy, mr krabs and plankton. haven't found those yet, but still looking. my 4 door is called ascot because the paint chip chart lists the color as ascot grey.they are bothe 54 windsors. actually my old cars are the only ones i name. i never even named my boat. dennis Quote
greg g Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Ours got named Kate because my wife thinks she soundsl like Kathrine Hepburn's quavery voice and laugh. Leeeaave Meeeeeee Alllonnne, Don't Tuuuurrrrnn thhhhat Keeeyyy. OK then weeeeellllll gooooooo. My father in law had a 76 Ford LTD II we dubbed the Edmund Fitgerald, because it was a barge and it felt as thouugh the rudder was parted from the wheel. its response to steering inputs were very very vague. Perhaps the Titanic would have suited better, but there was that Gordon Lightfoot song out at about that time. Quote
UKPlymouth Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Shipped from South Africa and Don C said she "don't look like no trailer Queen" so the name was a forgone conclusion! Quote
47heaven Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I've never been one to place names on cars, myself, but I do call it a "piece of ****" from time to time when I get mad at it. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 but there was that Gordon Lightfoot song out at about that time. Few years back I heard Gordon lightfoot do the wreck of my riding lawn mower to that tune. It was great! Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Shipped from South Africa and Don C said she "don't look like no trailer Queen" so the name was a forgone conclusion! Even on a trailer she dont look like no trailer queen. Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Named by my daughter because she thought it looked like the cars in the movie; Who Framed Roger Rabbit? BTW, if you didn't see the movie, R.K. Maroon was the owner of Toon Town. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Hey that Jessica is one of my favorite Rabbits...my favorite part was the weasels patting her down and the line..."nice booby trap Jessica" Quote

Shifticus Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Blueskies.. a man of my own words. it's either "the plymouth" or "the brown car" if the name of the hosting website sounds a little weird, go ahead and check out the cause.. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 My Prowler I just sold was the Silver Bullet, was the trophy winner many times over, and I still drove it like I stole it. The 52 Plymouth was named the Plymouth by me, and "Baby" by my girl friend who helped me rewire it, put in the AC and on and on. She picked that name because it was "always needing somthing" But that's happening less and less, lol Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Just call it the old Dodge. I have been know to talk to it when I had it all apart and I would say someday you'll be back together (I hope?) while laying my hand on a fender. Quote
