55 Fargo Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Hey is there going to be a New Years Eve party on here for those of us that are not going to any New Years Eve hootenany's. I know for us, as we have small kids at home, and the weather will be down to -14 tonight, staying home will be where it's Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'm going down to a friends house with Carmon for a night of games WII and snacking! May mix in a drink or two even Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I leave the highways to the folks that over indulge at this time of the year..will be at home...sucking up to the keyborad with a hot cup of coffee..if really in the mood, some herbal tea...for those that do go out..be safe..if you partake the spirits..get a designated driver please.. daddyo23 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Might be working part of the night. After that, I'll just go home and watch the 3 Stooges on AMC. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I have always thought New Year's Eve was overrated. To me, it falls into the category of Valentine's Day, Father's Day, and all the rest of the minor league holidays. I'm usually in bed and sawing wood by ten. People do like to drink and the cops are very attentive on New Year's which is one of the main reasons I stay off the road. And I'm allergic to crowds. Happy &$#@!@#$ New Year. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I think we all should head over to Coatney's, and sample some Tennessee water that flows through there. Tony C Quote

Dennis Hemingway Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'll be checking the inside of my eyelids for leaks. or maybe I'll watch Speed TV until midnight, that's when TimeWarner Cable say they are going to cut them off. RobertKB Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 UH OH!!! Tim's 8000th post, on the day of the Blue Moon and last day of the decade. Technically speaking, next year (2010) is the end of the decade just as 2000 was the last year of the millenium. 2001 was officially the start of the third millenium. Only when 2000 was over had there been two thousand years in the AD dates which completes two millenia. Don't mean to be picky but maybe some members will now have another bit of trivia for their amusement, just like with blue moon. Quote
JoelOkie Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Technically speaking, next year (2010) is the end of the decade just as 2000 was the last year of the millenium. 2001 was officially the start of the third millenium. Only when 2000 was over had there been two thousand years in the AD dates which completes two millenia. Don't mean to be picky but maybe some members will now have another bit of trivia for their amusement, just like with blue moon. I went a round with the local newspaper here when they were proclaiming Jan 1, 2000 as the start of the new Millenium, and it took several letters with supporting documents from myself before they finally admitted they had it wrong...and then their excuse was they were going with that date anyway because National Geographic, and a lot of other people were, and they printed that excuse in thier own paper. As you point out, a decade STILL takes ten complete years. Joel Edited December 31, 2009 by JoelOkie Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'll probably play with the car and then hang out on the computer. Too many nuts on the road! Tom Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Max and I will be in this very same corner again tonight at a local sports bar/restaurant called Sportsman's Park. We played there for 2007/2008 doings. We won't be doing any drinking, just our playing. The club is offering free taxi rides home for folks who need it, plus has a limo service available as well. (That's me on the left.) Happy New Year to all. Quote
