rlovette
I've been thinking about all the cars my parents owned over their almost 53 years of marriage. They were married in March of '56...and my dad was driving a '48 Plymouth. Other flatheads over the years included a '48 Chrysler....a '50 Imperial...and two '41 Plymouths--a P-11 and P-12 . The P-11 has been in the family since 1970 (I was born in '71)..so there's a great deal of attachment here.
Niel Hoback
On October 31, 1961, I bought a 1930 Chrysler 6 sedan. We've had a Mopar hanging around ever since.

wldavis3
I am really a newbie. The car that I take care of (for some reason I do not consider that I "own it") was bought used in 1954 by my Dad's great aunt -- his mother's sister (Aunt Ruby). After she passed away, it sat for some ten odd years, before Dad pulled it out of the garage and got it running again. After Dad got "up in years", he gave it to me to care for. So, we both still consider the car to be "Aunt Ruby's car".
moose
Bought my '54 Belvedere in '89 at age 17, and I was hooked. Still have it, but it's about a thousand miles from me right now.
P-12 Tommy
My parents had a P-12 in 1950. Then in 1966 they were Mopar 'till my Dad passed in 1988. My first two cars were Furds. I quickly realized what junk they were. My opinion, of course. I bought my first Mopar in 1973 (1969 Plymouth Roadrunner) I've had all Mopar's since then, including 10 Dodge Charger's. This is my first older Mopar. I really enjoy this car. Tom Edited July 27, 2009 by P-12 Tommy
TodFitch
Apparently the Chrysler-Plymouth dealer in town generally gave better deals on used cars than others. So in the 1950s there was a succession of used Plymouths as family cars. First new car my parent bought was a 61 Valiant wagon followed by a 63 Belvedere wagon which is the car I learned to drive on. First car I bought, in 1973, was the 33 PD that I still have. So I've owned a Mopar since 1973 but there has been one in the family for as far back as I can remember. But does the 33 count as a "Mopar"? I don't think they started the "Motor Parts Corporation" until after my car was built.

DLK
My father had a 41 DeSoto, then a 41 Chrysler, then a 49 New Yorker - a gas guzzling beast that took real muscle to steer. I loved the plaid upholstery as a kid. He got away to Chevrolets until he bought a 63 Belvedere. He got me hooked. I bought a long series of MOPAR cars but haven't had one since 2007 but expect to change that soon.
rolliejoe
since 1981. My first car was a '68 Barracuda that I bought when I was 14 years old, had to pay $200 and give up my minibike. A 318 car with airshocks and L-60s out back. Have kept it all Mopar until 2007 when we bought a Honda Civic, the wife's car doesn't count against you, right?!? billwillard
I bought my first car when I was 15 and I am now 72. A 40 DeSota 4dr. Only one guy in town would ride with me and he would always sit in the middle of the back seat and hold on to the two side straps. (WILD CHILD) I can't count the cars I have had in my life but Mopar has always been my favorite. I now have a 35 Dodge cp-50 Plymouth bus cp and 48 Dodge. Hope I live long enough to get the other two on the road.

John Reddie
My first car was a 1935 Plymouth rumble seat coupe purchased in 1954 for $15.00 (I was twelve). I have since owned a '36 Plymouth rumble seat coupe, four P15s, a '48 Dodge 4 door, a '49 Chrysler Windsor coupe. and a '62 Dodge Dart. I now have for my only cars, two '67 Plymouth Furys. Normspeed
My first car in high school was a 47 P15 2 door sedan. Got it around 1963, got it on the road in 64. In 66 I drove a $50.00 55 Plymouth 4 door rustbucket from Ft. Lauderdale to Southern California on a shoestring budget. Owned most of the big brands and several VW bugs too, but I love my Plymouths. Olddaddy
In 1973 I bought a 64 Dart with a slant/6 and automatic. I've had a Mopar ever since, mostly six cylinders, but a few bent motors too. I've had other brands, but nothing held my attention like the Mopars.

DLK
I talked to a guy at work today his first car in high school (1956) was a 49 Windsor coupe. He drive it for three years and it stayed in the family for a long time he said the car was bulletproof. Chrysler defintely led the way in engineering in the 1940's and early 50's.
