  1. Check for wear on hand brake linkage. I was able to get a better brake grab by taking some slop out of the pivot points.
  2. For foot pedal starters I read that you are supposed to stomp on them, like you would if there was a loose $50 bill on the ground on a windy day.
  3. A couple of my vehicles have be converted to 12 volt. original 6 volt starters work fine, just make sure your vehicle is well tuned and you will find the 12 volts will start your vehicle very fast.
  4. Thanks Ken. Looks like mine are 10", nice to have spares, if they are in good shape.
  5. Thank you very much. Anything on the rear drums\hubs?
  6. Does anyone have parts number listings for the C3B hubs so I can check if they are the same?
  7. I picked up a 1955 C3B rolling chassis mainly for the engine and transmission parts. Can anyone tell me if the 10 inch hubs on the C are compatible with the B3B series? Thanks
  8. The Fargo hub caps are out there, just hard to find. I would suggest placing a wanted ad on Kijiji or Facebook. Hopefully swap meets will be starting more here and you can make contacts
  9. I like used engines for spare parts. Starter, generator, carb, distributor, exhaust manifold, parking brake band, trans, etc. Blocks are bring $150 for scrap right now around here if no good.
  10. I run what ever is on sale. 6.5:1 compression, just drive it.
  11. If you want to use an electric pump as a primer you need to install a pulse style like the Airtex brand. The Carters shown above are excellent for stand alone pumps, but your mechanical pump can not draw fuel through the Carter style of pump.
  12. Yes all my historic 40-50s vehicles that I have owners manuals stated 90 days or 4000 miles which was ever first. Taillight warranties? i
  13. I would take the top off and check the 7 out for cleanliness, float function, accelerator pump action\diaphragm condition, etc, check to see if main jet is the same, maybe swap if there are issues in top end performance. Install and try her out, pretty sure she will work fine if it looks as good as you say. 20 minute job to find out if it works good.
  14. Loosen the rear axle nut while tire is on and in contact with the ground using breaker bar etc. Remove tire, leave axle nut on loosely then use your heavy duty puller ensuring all 3 legs are centered and tight.
  15. Have you adjusted the distributor lockdown plate? Usually a clamp or bolt underneath that will allow you to adjust the range for the distributor lockdown.
  16. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/51-53_parts/51_53.htm Parts listing for Canadian trucks link from this site. Canadian engines will be the 25" block which are different from the US models.
  17. You could try a little "Seals All" over the pin area.
  18. If the donor trans is a non fluid drive unit the input shaft will be too short. If it is a fluid drive unit I imagine they will be compatible, 48-49 were body style changes but drivetrain probably didn't change much?
  19. I quite often use the throttle cable on the dash, pull it out for 1/4 throttle before engaging starter.
  20. I buy a lot of tune up, brake and shock parts from Rock Auto. Wheel cylinders for your truck. Check out the wheel studs RHT $1.21 each worth changing them all to RHT? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,1954,truck,3.6l+218cid+l6,1487770,brake+&+wheel+hub,wheel+cylinder,1952
  21. Outstanding find. She will be a great driver with the OD.
  22. Another point to consider. If your engine has been run on non detergent oil for a long time there will be a build up of sludge in the oil pan. you will want to clean the engine of the sludge before you change to a modern multi weight detergent oil.
  23. Where did you get your rebuild kit from? I have been trying to find a kit for my AC pump out of my '42 Fargo. Ended up getting a Carter fuel pump from Rock Auto for $29, but I would still like to rebuild the original.
  24. What do you consider very low oil pressure? I think the 218 in my '42 Fargo book lists 15 PSI at idle. you might consider running something like Rotella 15-40 which will probably bring it up a bit.
