  1. On mine there is.
  2. What's the part number on these? Can they be cross referenced to say a Spicer number? If so then 48Windsor can call Inland Truck parts in Overland Park, Kansas at (800) 448-8436 and maybe they can get them sent to you.
  3. I understand their CYA (cover your a$$) policy because they want to protect their reputation. Maybe you could just take the starter body with the field coils in and just ask them to rewind the coils. Then you could reassemble it at home and they would only have to warranty their work as long as you didn't damage the coils upon reassembly. It never hurts to ask.
  4. Whoa! That seems pretty high to remove, rewind and replace the field coils along with reassembly and testing. Were they aware of the complete condition of your starter or do you think that was if everything needed replaced and/or rebuilt?
  5. I am running 215/75/15 Hancooks on my '48 Plymouth.
  6. Welcome and as stated above. Get them fixed your life and others lives depend on it.
  7. Classy, me likey. And Welcome to the forum.
  8. Go look at the Coker Tire website. You'll find a conversion chart there that is accurate. You can go a little larger on width for example 225 instead of 215. Your height aspect will also affect overall tire diameter for example 75 is taller than 65, those numbers represent the percentage of sidewall height compared to the width aspect.
  9. There's some good info in this thread.
  10. What turn signal switch did you use?
  11. dr47 Check out this blog on the forum.
  12. Inherited. I'd give 'em back for my Dad.
  13. Assuming that positive is your ground. If you touch the cylinder head with the probe while the alligator clip is attached to the body of the car or the positive post on the battery the light should not come on.
  14. Thanks for the update.
  15. Have you checked the float height, idle air mixture and idle speed? It sounds like it could be running a little rich. What type of gasoline are you running in it? Ethanol blends tend to need a slightly lower float height.
  16. Brandon, you are correct that is specific to that turn signal switch but it will also give you an idea of how it should or could be wired. Like Plymouthy said factory repair manual will show you how the factory did this. You stated that it had been converted to 12 volt so it may not have factory wiring. So that is why I posted that link. Just trying to help. Hopefully you will get it sorted out quickly.
  17. Give this a look see it could be wired wrong.
  18. A couple more ideas. Maybe a mouse chewed a wire, causing an electrical issue or a hose, causing a vacuum issue. Not saying you have a rodent problem but sitting for 9 weeks it's possible one may have come along and tested out expanding it's territory for future endeavors.
  19. Your last 2 posts shows me that life is good.
  20. So, if there is no ballast resistor in your ignition system, we can rule that problem out. Have you tried firing the plugs out of the cylinder and checked for a bright blue spark? Weak or erratic spark can be caused by a bad condensor or a wire that is causing resistance. This resistance can come in a form of cracked insulation or corrosion inside the insulation or at the connections. Have you poured a teaspoon or two of oil down each cylinder and cranked it over a couple of times to help the compression in case of flooding washing the cylinders? Have you checked the carburetor to make sure the float and or needle are not stuck?
  21. Have you installed a ballast resistor in you ignition system? The reason I ask is, if my memory serves me right, your ignition will fire on the primary circuit while cranking acting like it wants to start but when you release the key to the run position, which involves the secondary circuit, it dies. This condition usually indicates a bad ballast resistor.
  22. On the lid, the channel is designed for drainage. It will cause rust issues over time if exposed to the weather, because of the trapped moisture and debris.
  23. See if you can open it with the Paint program and then resize it.
  24. The dimmer switch is a likely culprit. I've had all my lights go out because of a bad dimmer switch.
  25. Can't wait to see more pictures.
