  1. Thanks, Greg. I am definitely not "pumped up" along with my age and slight medical problems. I have a young cousin who lives nearby that has a '41 Chevy and we enjoy working on our old cars together when we get the time. I will ask him to help when I've got all the pieces gathered. I will probably have more questions along the way and appreciate any help and information but it will take some time as we both work and have families. My '48 has been in the family since the 1970's so it ain't going nowhere. Forgot to ask. What is this work around to kick it down?
  2. I'm going to have to put a clutch in my '48 pretty soon. I have an overdrive unit out of a '52 Plymouth Cambridge 2 door. Will I have to do any modifications to make this fit? I know I will have to source some parts as not all of them are present. Mainly what I'm worried about are drive line and mounts. Any and all help appreciated.
  3. Thanks, that's what I was alluding to.
  4. Did you time the oil pump also when you put on the new timing chain and gears?
  5. I've seen better resto-mods for a lot less moola. Not saying I wouldn't mind driving it around but not at that price.
  6. Do a search on this forum for Tim Kingsbury, George Asche and the AOK boys, they have a lot of history with racing these engines. Another search that would be good is the Montana Dodge Boys.
  7. Any part number that would fit the 10" drums on cars?
  8. I agree with all the above statements but I do have a question as I don't have any experience in welding on assembled cars because they are usually disassembled when I weld on them. Should anything else other than the battery be disconnected when welding on these old cars, like gauges, clocks, sending units or relays?
  9. Yes what Don Said. If you're worried about the wiper motor then disconnect it and plug in the gauge there and check the reading. Then put a tee in at that same port and reconnect the wiper motor that will eliminate whether the wiper motor is the source of low vacuum.
  10. I believe the radio is correct but those tires have some cracks in them. I think you should just let me know where it's at and I'll go pick it up and let it sit in my yard for a while. Heck I'll even take the junk that's inside. But seriously, take the car and at the very least sale it to someone who appreciates it and even give the lady some of the money from the sale. You will still come out ahead on it.
  11. If you don't mind telling. What part of the country did you find the nice car?
  12. Thumbs Up to Gary Roberts. It looks as if he is willing to stand behind his products which he has done in the past with me.
  13. Jerry, you beat me to my first question. My second question is, who was the vendor for the bonded shoes?
  14. They look as if they fit the Carter 1bbl carbs perfect. Did you have to modify them in any way? Do you have the vendors link?
  15. When you speak of "the best advance curves", are you talking about mechanical or vacuum advance? If mechanical, I would think you should be able to use the weights and springs of the later model distributor. If vacuum then that may take a little more work adapting the advance module from one to the other. Does anyone have more insight on this thought?
  16. 55 Fargo, where did you get the air cleaners?
  17. That's why I said "By just eyesight of the pictures". Would someone happen to have part numbers so that they could be looked up for interchange between different models and years?
  18. By just eyesight of the pictures you've posted I would say you could get many body parts from 41-48 Plymouths and 41-42 Dodges that will fit like the door that is missing.
  19. Casper, looking at the tape, I would say if your valve stem is closer than 2-1/8" from the inside of your rim and there are no reliefs on the trim rings then they won't fit.
  20. I didn't realize they ever put a 360 and 727 combo in a Duster. Are you sure it's not a 904LA?
  21. You might also reach out to Tim Kingsbury or Mopar Montana here on this forum. One other source might be allpar.com.
  22. Elwood, you might also post this on the AACA forum also if you haven't already. Someone maybe able to help over there also.
  23. The actual blue prints would be more than just one drawing. You would have multiple individual prints, multiple assembly and sub-assembly prints plus a final assembly print that could also be several pages with different views and a bill of materials. What is it you actually want and for what purpose? Answering the first part of this question you may be able to find with an internet search, answering the second part would be of interest to those that might be willing to help.
  24. 55 FARGO, that video of /6 versus Hellcat was taken just down the road from me. Do you know who the participants are and where they're from?
  25. We have one of those tumble steel bead blasters in the shop at work. Gotta be careful what you put in there they are powerful.
