  1. I still have a paying account which I've had for many years. If someone had a similar service is likely switch as their site has been very troublesome for about the last year
  2. Project is done. One last final annoyance- the upper bolt went in easy as can be but then the bottom stud wouldn't tighten- the threads were pulling out of the aluminum bell housing! So had to tap what was left and converted to a bolt that went completely through. Car is back together and running!
  3. For better or worse the starter is going back in. Cleaned regreased and bench tested ok.
  4. This has a rebuild sticker on it from Napa power premium dated Nov of 16 so I can't imagine this stater has many miles on it. So cleaning and reassembling is my thought too. Pulled it apart and that stuff is everywhere! From what I can also tell this is a newer starter as the solenoid is gasketed.
  5. Is there anything that's supposed to be inside there that would produce this nastiness?
  6. Not sure where it started but I haven't disassembled anything beyond removal from the car. It's coming out of the gear area
  7. The 64 wagon developed a rough idle and off idle stumble last weekend. So yesterday I decided before I started digging into that I should replace the broken battery cable. Just in case it's some odd voltage issue from the broken cable. Next thing you know my starter is on the bench with a messed up cable stud and brown soggy looking sawdust stuff coming out of it! I think I got the threads on the stud fixed but no idea where that brown gunk came from or how it got in there!
  8. I bought a device that turns my dewalt cordless drill batteries into portable usb batteries. Works great if you happen to have a 20v dewalt drill
  9. I was referring to the confusion about a 37 dodge 1/2 ton with a long 6
  10. I believe prior to the redesign in 39 the dodge trucks of all sizes were using the longer 6.
  11. Check out my friends /6. Fast forward to the 5min area if you want to skip right to the track.
  12. Yes that's what I have on my truck. They state they should be on a wider wheel but I haven't had any problems beyond the steering rub
  13. I've had radials on my 46 for 20 years. No tubes. The biggest issue I've had is the LF rubs the pitman arm on lefts so I had to adjust the steering stop. I might add a spacer to try and fix that.
  14. You got my curiosity up as the only 2 ugly knobs in my car are choke and throttle! So I dug into some parts and took a few pictures. As for that dash apparently someone didn't know the bezel doesn't unscrew and you need to remove the nut on the backside!
  15. Did some digging. Here is a choke cable from the backside. As you can see it looks like 1 piece. Then an old dash with the cable still installed but no plastic.
  16. That lever doesn't move very far in general. If they are trying to move it as far as the other shift lever they'll never get there.
  17. I believe you are right and the p15 knobs are solid plastic moulded right to the cables.
  18. More than likely your issue is linkage and you just need to adjust it. No trans swap needed
  19. Found my pic
  20. Also have you tried parking it in the driveway the other direction??
  21. In a museum somewhere I think possibly the henry ford museum there was an early rod with a hemi. It ran the full hood but the corners of the hemi was just a little wide. So there was a cutout in the hood side with just a little hemi valve cover sticking through. Looked awesome to me. Gives anyone who knows a sneak peak without even opening the hood.
  22. Funny the stuff we do. I did my truck with all stainless bolts. The original batch had nice smooth heads. During a test fit I ruined a couple (learned you need anti seize) and the replacements had letters on the head. Even though I'm sure no one would ever notice I filed the letters off those replacements
  23. I bought a Dakota advertised as having a bad diff and that's sort of how it behaved. I think I'd disconnect the driveshaft and try and spin the rear wheels by hand. See if anything feels clunky
  24. I've never seen it anywhere else but when Dad had a 39 we used to see a lot of headlight rings for it that appeared NOS but were lacking chrome.
  25. As someone who had actually hit and f150 with his plymouth let me tell you she did more than barely slow down. My p15 got pretty squashed but the F150 spun almost 360 and ended up half a block down
