  1. I remember reading that tech article, fortunately, my '38 Plymouth came stock with the F1 type shock mounts......unfortunately, it's a straight axle with parallel leaf springs & not the IFS.
  2. Hell Yeah! It doesn't look that bad.....as long as Tony Stewart isn't driving the lead car. (judging by our usernames, we'd make a great team!)
  3. I've got it somewhere, as soon as I find it, I'll let you know.
  4. Is this what you're looking for:http://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-1937-1938-1939-1940-1941-Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler-Brake-T-Switch-MoPaR-/111429804765?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19f1bbe2dd&vxp=mtr
  5. Can you "tweek" the hard lines a little to make the "Y" work? I had the square "T" style that had stripped threads, so I used the "Y" style. Check this out from an old thread of mine, end of post #86:http://p15-d24.com/topic/26625-new-front-disc-brakes-front-end-rebuild-steering-rebuild-for-the-38-plymouth/page-5
  6. I've seen this car in person a few times & it is very well done for a kustom. Not my preference on a few of the mods though. Like Bill said, it is HEMI powered.
  7. EXCELLENT WORK! Is that Glyptal coating on the inside of the heads? I used it for the inside of my Panhead cases.
  8. You won't want to ride in this one......it's kinda short.
  9. Bill, from a suggestion from another thread....other images.... Here's one in the reflection of a '49 Chevy front fender from The Outrider's Picnic a few years ago: Front view:
  10. Other than the wheels being too modern for the rest of it, though it is the "short" bus, so go figure.
  11. I was with the kids today & spotted these 2 Dodge's:
  12. I keep my Double Stuff Oreos in the fridge, go through 1 to 1-1/2 packs & a gallon of milk a week for the last 20 years....have them every night......my only vice these days. They have to be Double Stuff & kept in the fridge.
  13. At least he's wearing his harness/lanyard, so probably would only fall 6'.....still enough to pucker the ole sphincter.
  14. Check here:http://www.edgyspeedshop.com/
  15. I read all the time on this forum of members carrying an extra fuel pump, starter, generator, distributor, points, coil, master cylinder, wiper blades, fuses, spare tire, etc, etc, etc........why not extra petronix internals (or even a complete extra set-up @$150), should such a failure occur.....probably cheaper than lodging, meals, etc. It's going to get to the point, where we will have to tow a car behind our car, just in case.
  16. On my '38 Plymouth, the taillight wires were/are run along the inside of the drivers side frame rail.
  17. YES....... .....& YES!!!!!!! You can't just start a thread with "426 Hemi......" & not post at least 1 pic of the engine bay.
  18. Looking good Steve, did you eliminate the 2 solid square parallel bars (which also has a solid round bar parallel to the front axle) that clamp to the front axle? I think that is some sort of sway bar which also keeps the front axle from moving fore & aft. I've seen in the service manual some sort of "shock" on each side & "sway bar"(?) which spans the front axle, that may have been a mid year change for '38. EDIT:Any before pics?
  19. For as inexpensive as a wheel cylinder rebuild kit is, wouldn't hurt to change the rubber parts, if you find an NOS one. As has been mentioned, have yours (hopefully original) re-sleeved with stainless steel, they will never pit, you won't end up with foreign junk that MAY last a few years, & then be in the same boat. I had mine re-sleeved & they were the step bore type, cost $75 each & they bead blasted the wheel cylinders. I used http://www.brakeplace.com/ & they can supply you with the rebuild kits also. Very happy with their service-fast turn around time & they paid the return shipping, if I remember correctly.
  20. I believe in the first post, he removed the fuel line @the pump inlet & blew air through the line & heard bubbling in the tank.
  21. Here's 1 on ebay....just under $16 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-31-32-33-34-35-PLYMOUTH-DODGE-CHRY-DESOTO-OIL-LINE-/161347711142?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item259112b0a6
  22. Converted to 12V negative ground a few years ago & still using the original 6V starter without any problems.
  23. Whadaya mean "out here"??? I'm just north of you! I think I paid around the same as you got quoted & seemed most of the brake places were a little higher around here, so I chose the linked shop, from a referral. My rears have a stepped bore. I usually like to deal local, though. I did have a local shop (http://www.chtopping.com/) re sleeve my stock MC with a smaller S.S. sleeve with a 1" bore & they used modern over the counter internal parts.
  24. I like the 40-41's.....especially when they're chopped, but prefer the rear chopped a bit more than the front.....a Carson top will look good on this car & it will be interesting to see what the fenders look like without the "ribs". If you don't use the split rear window with the Carson top & want to get rid of it, let me know, I've always thought about changing the rear window on my '38 Coupe. I'll be watching this one.
  25. Nice lookin ride! Welcome from So Cal.
