  1. Good to know. I had assumed that they did and my car just did not have one from the owner i got the car from. I'm assuming it's the original style radiator. I haven't had any problems with cooling aside from once getting into the heins drive cruise here in michigan. Essentially it's like entering gridlock for 8 miles. Also she got hot running through the western burbs of metro detroit. quarter mile, red light. wait 2 cycles. quarter mile, red light. wait 2 cycles. etc. That's a strong possibility. I've found some good 3 core aluminum replacements online from champion at a reasonable cost. I'll do it if it comes down to it! Peace of mind is priceless. Ohh semihemi That's the game plan. After reading the thread contents,i may just go have the radiator tested after i get this converter swapped. Good deal. I'm heading up north this weekend and my friend joe owns the local yard. I'll see if he has anything. Long shot, but he has tons of old rust.
  2. Thanks for sharing. I understand that the car should operate cool under normal driving conditions, however, normal conditions would indicate that I have the shroud which I am missing. I'll get a pic later of my setup. Unfortunately it's looking like nobody makes a shroud for these cars. I spoke to summitracing today and they recommended this piece as a "close second". http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vta-32031-vff
  3. I'm running 3 inch blocks out back from butch. Moog swap out front with 2 full coils cut out. I was hoping it would settle more. Big improvement in ride quality / handling. I'm going to take another coil out next week.
  4. Good Afternoon Folks - It's been a while since I've been around. I hope all is well. Toward the end of last season I ran into some overheating issues in my 49 with a 318. I've decided to upgrade to an electric puller fan and attempt to find a shroud. Unfortunately, my car did not come with one. What are you folks doing in terms of electric fans and shrouds? Any suggestions toward a universal that I can make work? Thanks as always!
  5. I too swapped in these springs over the weekend and removed a coil. Night and day difference. With some new shocks out front, it'll be better than new. Cured much of the body roll and bump steer issues.
  6. Interesting. I'll have to check that out. Where would you recommend sourcing them? I already have the aerostar springs and plan to give them a shot today and see how it goes. Always looking for better options though! Thanks for the tip.
  7. All the door panels are off and ready to be traced for templates. I'm going to go with some simple pleated vinyl and get a little more radical with the seat upholstery after cruise season. Tomorrow's agenda is to install the aerostar front springs and get the ride height leveled out. Any ideas as to where I can locate new bushings for the front end? The car squeaks like a cheap hotel mattress.
  8. Just got through rehanging the exhaust that the previous owner installed. Amazing what a little welding and a few hangars will accomplish. On the down side, I found my exhaust leak.. manifold bolt broke off in the head right behind the steering column. I'll probably have to either pull the head or yank the engine to drill/retap. I'm assuming it'll be easier and cheaper just to yank the whole engine. Might be a good time to lose that old RV cam and upgrade to something with a bit more lift. I was able to get under the car on a hoist for the first time and I was very pleased. No rust, straight frame, new brake lines, new fuel lines!
  9. Ok.. just like the window cranks, i'm assuming. I'll go check it out shortly.
  10. Looks like I joined the right forum! As long as I'm not wrenching, I may show up. I work for chrysler at the warren truck plant and our employee car show is this Saturday as well.
  11. Thanks for the invite! If she's ready to rock and roll, maybe easy livin' and I will make an appearance! For today, I replaced the cowl vent seal to stop that water coming in. I also pulled the kick panels which were practically disintegrated. I can't seem to find what holds the interior door handle on. I'd assume there would be a c clip of sorts. Any experience pulling these off so I can remove and reupholster the door cards? I also came across a new set of fiberglass skirts in the car that I will not be using.
  12. Fuzzy Dice and Curb Feelers! Coming soon. hah
  13. Greetings everybody - My name is Mike and I live in Southeastern Michigan about 20 miles south of Detroit. Last week I picked up a 1949 Coronet Club Coupe and drove it home from Cleveland. Here's what I know about the car: 318 swap with a mild cam, edelbrock intake, 4 barrel edelbrock carb - 904 trans with a shift kit - super high gear rear end (I averaged 2k on the tach at 70mph) - 15 inch steel wheels and coker wide whites - butches 3 inch rear blocks - 12 volt conversion - has a nice new column. Here's some eye candy. My plans for the car: New weatherstrip for windows, doors, trunk Aerostar front spring swap (ordered and will arrive tomorrow) Front disc brake swap and add power booster Attempt to source out new bushings for the front end Upgrade the sway bar Clean up the interior and hack job wiring I'd also like to finish shaving the trim, antenna hole, and doors I'm kind of digging the primer look so once the body is straight, i'll hit it with an off white with semi flattened clear. Let me know what you think! I'm new to these old mopars so any suggest upgrades are appreciated. Also, please pass along any sources for the parts listed above. Thanks for having me!
