  1. Filler, sand, prime, sand, repeat until a guide coat (thinned black paint or dark primer) sands out smooth enough to suit your eye? 2nd opinions allowed? with a 320 grit sand paper ( I like wet and dry as it lasts --way longer) . Move to next area repeat (I first mistyped - repent and you may ask what you did to deserve this?) until done or bored to death. I found women and children like to help at least for a while! Good news it is worth the time and trouble! ? DJ
  2. Sure has gotten over the top complicated these days. Thanks for the time spent checking prices especially for the shipping payer? I have fought with Fed-Ex drop off points over their on-line shipping policies on line versus a local store. Made them check and got manager involved. Shipped a Mopar 3rd member also to N.C. I was told to heavy, must be shipped truck at 3 times the price I had told the buyer. After checking the manager said it Did fit the their size and weight limitations easily for the standard ship prices. Done and done. Arrived in three days form Ca. to N.C.! It just happened to be heavier than what they were used to dealing with. Sorry (Not) ! Thanks for the reminder to check prices even if it just because you are trying to be nice to a buyer! ? DJ
  3. 2 more bumper stickers- - DJ
  4. A couple of pinholes dad but more practice will get it done for the great kid you have! ? Something that I also get to often after years of practice on my two old cars. ? Doing great! DJ
  5. Or gas stations either I'd guess. But what fun for short runs! DJ
  6. Gently rub the door handle and say abra-kadrabra?? You trying to remove the pieces or is the issue that it is difficult to open or just unlock with the interior or exterior handle. Each has it's issues and different repair/adjustments. Return springs in the mechanisms get weak/worn and also break. They can be repaired but are a pain to do often but do-able. Sorry I am not making fun, I still have two of my 4 dr. doors closure mech.'s that need work. I Can Slam hard to make them work but not happy with that, another (small?) future project! DJ
  7. jerseycj8- https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-65030 They do sell carb. spacers that are wedge shaped if you fell it is necessary. This is the first I saw just to give you an idea. DJ
  8. Not sure but many say and have said no trimming period! I screwed mine up years ago and trimmed - added alot of sealer to the ends added. It Leaks! ? DJ
  9. Top side of motor at front of block above generator/alternator mount area just below the head is a machined area that the factory stamped a number as the car the motor was installed in was a Cap - C ######### or D or P or S for cars. Trucks got A T-###### etc. Some where sold as Industrial uses and got other designations such as IND.####### That will tell for what it came in and year, often but Not always displacement. Where to start. DJ
  10. I would love to ask you how you feel about mail-in..... But I will not! No name, haha. Dinner is done I hope it is edible because I cooked, not a TV dinner.
  11. http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Films/075/index.html MoparTiger, Go to this site and the door alignment factory training manual from Mopar dated 1954 but applies to almost all years Moapr. Hope that helps! DJ
  12. How can I do that now? I forgot to store some from last winter. ? What if last winter was quite warm overall? Recommended air temp. to save for next year? I guess I will post a wanted ad in the classified to see if anyone has extra for sale? ? We may have to import some from Canada if the west coast of US stays this warm! DJ- I think that is who I am today?
  13. In a crash is is better to have bolts that stretch a lot before breaking rather than sheer off but at a higher pressure. Both have places were one is the preferred choice over the other in different uses. In that crash (god I hope not) that it might even matter in these older cars/trucks it will not make even a small difference I hate to say! ? DJ
  14. The Q is about having a dry oil start up because of oil drain back to the pan when parked. Maybe the stock oil filter has that anti drain back built into it? Well after all the years you have owned and driven this old car of yours it certainly did not cause you any problems. LOL Just keep on truckin'!! ? DJ
  15. Are any of the replacement tanks (new) that have the original lock ring type of fuel level sender hole setup? All I remember seeing have the newer style 6 hole flat face for screw down sender attachment. Senders with the correct resistance range are available but most likely do not work with the pre - '49 gauges or will they? Others experiences.? I have seen on EBay that Moparpro sells stock type lock ring setups for 1950 but the earlier ones he is selling are the 6 screw down type. I do not have the early only the 49-50 and up cars and gauges.
  16. Andy, Did you include a anti-drain back valve in the oil pressure side of the system near the block off plate? Concerned me mostly because of the raised location and length of hose to reach to the filter and finally back to the motor. Am I understanding correctly what you did? DJ
  17. About 6 months ago I bought a new weld helmet off the web. My 20+ year old small lense auto-darkening that cost $200+. It was very getting very slow on darkening (new batteries) and I was getting flash burn on the eyes. No fun. I quit very early as I have past experience with more severe flash burn. NO fun. Eyes hurt for days. Have also heard that it is easier the 2nd. time around and beyond for the eyes to get a burn. Do Not want to go there! Anyway the new is a YESWELDER brand (Chinese) auto darkening, adjustable settings with True color and is the larger lense. ( about 4" by 3-3/4"). Solar with battery. 6 months and still going on original battery. Came with spare battery. On line the batteries run 3 - 7 bucks free ship. So price no big deal for that. $35 delivered in about 4 days. I love it compared to the old even when it worked good. Color Is more true but most likely not up True Color that the $500 range Miller Welding helmet sells, but I do not weld regularly or every days as more pros might. So fine for me. My 5 cents for what that buys? DJ
  18. Sounds to me like one of the front wheels gets dug into something on frame or other parts as you reach full hard turn and backup. The tire gets hung up stopping forward movement. Happened to several friends cars when bigger wheels/tires where put on and steered hard one direction hard over or both directions. Check of backside of the tires will tell the tale if so. DJ
  19. Wow, why the high prices. What are you looking to buy a gas powered? Brand name 175-200 amps are going for $800+ - for migs + bottle rent or purchase. That amperange range of welder will get you up to 3/8 or 1/2" thickness steel. Tigs- good models are AC and DC welders for almost any type of welding and are $700 and up. Plus bottle (pure argon and that gets somewhat expensive) rent or buy. You do not need a tig for most auto work and may be cheaper to just have the aluminum or stainless welded by a shop.
  20. One spring not set proper in the pocket? DJ
  21. A clay bar used with a cleaner spray cleans up great all those small things in the paint. Mothers brand sells a kit with both. Kind of expensive to me but I hear good things from friends that have used it. What is expensive to me? Most things these days. ? Your interior looks better with those beautiful dogs! ? DJ
  22. Makes me remember a cartoon movie that had Tow Mater with the teeth, That was a cartoon but this car is a bad joke. JMO. DJ
  23. Getting time to start work outs to build up your arms and upper body to turn that steer wheel! ? Getting close for the first drive with body on. Soon! ? DJ
