  1. Just sitting there. Can't recall seeing them before. Just posting for the viewing enjoyment of truck fans. Three on the right are V-8s.
  2. We had a possum in our attached garage several years ago................nasty little buggars they are...........snarley and like to poop on all sorts of stuff. My wife called the county covservation agent to inquire if he had any methods for removal. He told her he wished he knew as he also had a possum in his garage. Seems like I started chasing the critter with a stick once he came down from the upper shelves where he liked to hide. He went onto my workbench which is in front of a window, which was open. That rascal just used his pointy nose to poke at hole in the screen and jumped to the ground. Took the bowls of cat food out of the garage after that.
  3. Tod......you might check with that insurance company to see if they give you the daily cost of the rental car, as you didn't use it. Just a thought because, as I remember, State Farm will do that in certain situations......don't recall the details though.
  4. Sometimes seat covers, at least for cars, turn up on eBay. Some are more reasonably priced than others. Don't know if truck covers are out there. It would seem that "maybe" a front seat cover for a four door car might be made to fit. Just guessing. Otherwise, I would think those are fairly simple smooth covers with some piping.
  5. And......so were you........
  6. Then......there is that old saying that an unhappy customer will tell 10 times as many people as a happy customer. Which you have done some of. So they are probably money ahead in the long run to refund you. I don't think that amount will bankrupt the company. Now, you can say they were "good guys" and returned your money. Or, they hope you do.
  7. Sounds kinda like our grandkids............you either buy them something or do a thing for them.........but they just don't seem to feel "thank you" is necessary. (Seems to be a sign of the times.)
  8. Some people seem to think they can see OK and control their car on wet roads. Sometimes they can't. Semi trucks really push their luck in rain............. Yes.....some snow/ice driving would be real good for drivers ed. However, common sense should apply but often doesn't.
  9. Nice, Don. Definitely different.
  10. Found this one on the net in Mineola, NY............Only $110,000
  11. Nice work. Thanks for the posts. The only thing I would personally do different (i think) is to have the rear of the roof a little higher and more square. I think you could start a side business making fender skirts.
  12. Thanks for the pics and story Rich. I think there are many places like this around the country, but we don't always know about them. We have a place in the next town.....I think their work turns out OK, but it takes quite a while. The fellow I hire to do occasional mechanic work is employed there.....he knows his stuff, and will make "house calls".
  13. I bought a new upper right wheel cylinder for a 47 P15 at O"Reilly auto parts...........they list it as for a 51 and newer I think. It fits, but is not quite right which we noticed when attaching a new brake hose to it...........I think it does not center on the hole in the backing plate. Bernbaum usually has new wheel cylinders. I think White Post Restorations will sleeve a wheel and also Master cylinder.
  14. I actually put a little additional weight (two sandbags) just behind the rear seat on my convert as the rear end feels a bit light and squirrelly to me. And I have not removed any weight otherwise. But it probably is not as fast as yours will eventually be. Hmmm............Tim............tiara trim over the roof a-la a 70s Chrysler product?????
  15. I guess you could say that is truly a "full size" pickup.
  16. On our way home........had to get to Pensacola to see the great grand kids........so could not stop. Would have been fun to look a bit.
  17. The asking price of that Stude wagon, $500, seems very reasonable.
  18. Those Safari's (at least the 57s) have gotten to be maybe a bit high dollar nowadays.
  19. Hmmm......I sure didn't know that.
  20. Well.....that certainly doesn't look as bad as some I've seen. Appears to be a decent candidate for restoration. Good luck with it.
  21. Glad to see you are now able to get the car out and about, Joe. You certainly spent enough time and effort in resurrecting it. It certainly came out nicely in the end.
  22. On my engine, I used POR 20 High Heat Aluminum paint made by POR 15. Comes in a small can and applied with a 1 or 2 inch paint brush. You don't want to get that stuff on your hands as it is practically impossible to clean off. But it gave me a longer lasting finish than any of the spray can products I had previously used. For the red on the hubcaps, triangular piece on front of the hood, between letters of the Special Deluxe script on the cowl and on the stop light bezel, I've used two different things. One is the small glass container of Testor's red model paint and model brush. The other is the Testor's paint pen with a felt tip. You just need patience and a rag, along with some paint thinner to clean off the edge of the letter when you run over just a bit. That paint won't last forever, but it holds up pretty well.
  23. On our way home from Florida last week, we passed by Don's museum place.....don't recall where it was. Just some average looking buildings as seen from the back side. But a lot of drag racing history there I'm sure.
  24. Just wondering how things are in your neck of the woods.
  25. O k. Thanks....just interested in where people are. I'm in southwest Missouri....not very close.
