  1. I read that snakes and spiders were searching for higher dryer ground and homes were first on their list for ne abode.....shake them boots out before slipping them on.....wonder if the flooding is due to erosion caused by the fires last season.....nothing to hold the water...
  2. in a manner of speaking....we all PAY TO PLAY.....I would not own one of these or basically any older car if I had to leave it stock.....where is the fun in that.........to own a car just like everyone else....Keebler cookie anyone? don't worry...they all made the same...only difference is maybe the beverage you wash it down with.
  3. ..see........now the truth comes out.....they should only be worn 'round the house......never in public.....I'm sticking by that one...!!!!
  4. I sent a pair of Carhart to my cousin...he is often in snow and wet tending farm/livestock.....he was happy to get them....I personally do not like heavy material but I also don't have to be out and about daily either....I find blue jeans too heavy for my liking.
  5. Don used a 70 era E body rear axle 8 3/4 ratio I do not recall for sure but 3.55 comes to mind, he did not move the mounts but made offset plate adapters which still left a small leaf spring pinch on application. I have used the 70 E 8 3/4 also in 2.72 gears (big block twisting this and for cruising) but I choose to mount new perches for no pinch in the leaf springs and phased to my big block eng/tranny
  6. his inserted mount ear is basically the same size as the mount bracket....appears as though one may not be tweaked without tweaking the other, again, his picture angles does not lend the best views for the couch gallery. Altering the mount either higher or lower could be a quick easy solution...bit of retro fit..but when doing these mods one often has to make running changes along the way...
  7. for highlighting the lettering, I always use a paint crayon...they are available in many colors....simply rub across the lettering till the etched letter if full of paint, come behind with a soft cloth to remove the excess...done and done...we just called them paint marker/pencil back in the day but the art world has contaminated the market as they use these terms now for water color pencils as so called "painting" Markal B Paintstik Solid Paint Hobo Marker Set of 6 Vibrant Colors NEW 806802193472 | eBay
  8. Andy...look closer, the double is a u-joint set up like a cardan joint...other joints are supplied based on the spline or D shape of the steering shaft....remember here as in driveshaft, the joints must also be phased to reach and gain full use of the angles without binding. there is nothing wrong with a third joint or the double...it is just that a support post is needed to keep the shaft stationary and not flop about.
  9. I know many countries are tough on vehicle changes in respects to increased HP and body/chassis changes but the taxation rate is a bit off the chain it seems, genuine pure luxury tax. Still confused as to the shields...there is no way they could say if or if not on the car from new as not all cars were equipped. One would need the build sheet from Chrysler Historical Society in your country as a guideline to prove what the car was equipped with at time it was shipped, then you have dealer ad ons that were Chrysler approved but not on the build sheet but still considered stock as it was factory offered option. Sticky wicket for certain. As a 41 model I do not know if there is even a list of standard and optional features listed one could truly go by. I know there are none mentioned in my 1941 Plymouth service manual or the manual for my 41 Dodge for that matter.
  10. The Dauphines, Amphicars and Simcas were everywhere in Charleston SC mid-late 60's, throw in a few Hillmans for good measure. Military had a large footprint in the area, all sorts of cars in all sorts of places.
  11. think French......R------ D-------
  12. the cowl trim clip was a bit light in the loafers in design and a constant annoyance or fear of loss. I modified my mounts to allow pinch along the full upper and lower lip of the molding yet install with same said mounting clips...this also adds another layer of protection and this is in the form of galvanized metal...with this little mod one can even affix a retaining cable that will keep the trim attached even if it falls off...how deep do you want to go or how much insurance do you want to prevent loss....
  13. nothing wrong with what you doing....I view it as overbuilding and not true to original as built....but view it as could have been built...guess I see just way too much over build to the point it is a contest to see who has the most do dads....anyway....I am not judging really, sharing a viewpoint, this is from a guy who does not want anything as stock on the average....if I had to keep it stock I would pile it in with the rest of the stuff to burn come winter but l lean to the modern retro side of the line. as a PS to this...I do not view my cars as hot rods, nor do I view them as customs as they stay in their basic body shape from new....I do however call my cars personalized. They are for me by me and no one else needs to like them in any manner. If they do like what I have done, that is good I guess....if they do not, I still sleep soundly at night. Lots of room for all in the old car field though each segment have their diehards.
  14. if your car does not have them odds are they were not ever installed and thus if installed now will not be original to your car....only original to the model and unless you off-roading this pig they still are not necessary. I know it is what you need but something not original to your car BUT what you WANT. Original as possible to me means as sold...not as it could have been sold....
  15. if one has a straight shot from component to component, no brace for sure...his pictures alludes to bit different scenario...there was not a picture showing both ends or the shaft it will need to run in relation to header, mount and crossmember.
  16. and where did I place that 50lb box of C notes....
  17. often if a double joint it may require a stabilizing connection to the frame so not to induce any tendency to flop about. Do try to keep the joint clear of exhaust, heat dries out the lube...if you get close as often the case based on tight area to work in....use of a shield works wonders
  18. while not produced in mass quantity like their sisters....the 39 DeSoto compared to many other makes and model cars are numbered like leaves from a tree and in truth still falling to the earth.....62K cars if more than a drop in the bucket...
  19. I am installing a custom made console with all kinds of creature goodies....one is also the rear camera displaying on the stereo monitor...as an added however I have this in a vehicle with multiple blind spots....enclosed van without windows....so in order to check my six at any given time even at speed on the interstates without scaring the bejebbers out of the guy behind me with reverse lights coming on....override switch and a couple diodes and camera displays while rolling forward at a flip of the switch. Another small mod to consider.
  20. I'm with you brother except the fact is majority of our parent US companies have sold us out for the lower cost overseas made items they stock and sell...they have sent their molds, trained the folks and given away cast and mixing secrets for decades now.....all to put a dime in their pocket and in truth, they care less if you are happy. They glut the market, they make the bucks, sole source and umpteen retailers, they raking it in. It will not get better....
  21. search for the gasket and see if it is the same.......NAG subscribed glass cutter can tell you in a heartbeat if it is the same pattern.
  22. that shell will require a lot of work to get it back into condition...you will need some grille bars be they from another banged up unit or hand made...you money your need....only you can truly make the call
  23. not many want to deal with the postal into Canada....I know I look for other sources if coming from Canada....just who I am...
  24. do a search on here....this has been discussed before and I know in the past photos have been provided.....dimension...not that I can recall....these were only fitted to cars like mail carriers and other vender/suppliers that made field or rural visits due to the rutted conditions of many roads. I would be hesitant to leave them in place on a car used on todays highways. As a curosity - P15-D24 Forum - P15-D24.com and Pilot-house.com (p15-d24.com)
  25. bibs are a very different article of clothing to wear.....I find them uncomfortable and in some occasions confining for the most part and thus do not wear them....I do like the look, just can't handle the fit...
