I am an NPR kinda guy. Don't listen to music much. When we travel we usually will do some audio books for the trip. I can deal with anything from big bands to classic rock. I find it grating to listen to beachboys, richie Valence, Buddy Holly and the big bopper at car shows. If I get parked by a speaker, every time I walk by it I will turn it away from pointing at me.

Like you, my tastes are widely varied. If I'm just going to turn on the radio and forget it, country's the choice more often than not. I also like (mostly) older rock, jazz, bluegrass, big band, reggae, blues, older R&B and probably some genres I can't think of right now. And also like you, I can't stand the screaming, heavy metal R&R or especially rap, which isn't even music as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with you about the Hard Rock & Rap. It's just loud obnoxious noise, designed primarily to annoy us older folks. I guess some people like it, but I can't imagine why. As for me, my radio is set on old Country music. If I'm in the garage working on the old Plymouth, the music is on.

My dislike list is a lot shorter than my like list. I dislike rap, most modern country, disco, Tiny Tim, and elevator music.

I like old country/western, classic rock, 50's/60's oldies, big band, jazz, folk music, movie music such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, classical music, etc. I like artists such as Joplin, Doors, Hendricks, ZZ Top, Jonny Cash, Ray Charles, Hoagy Carmichel, Led Zepplin, Jefferson Airplane, Gordon Lightfoot, Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, Cass Eliott, Queen, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Springstein, Little Richard, Eagles, Eric Clapton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sanatra, Bob Lind (what song is he famous for?), Tennessee Ernie Ford, Willie Nelson, and hordes of others I cant think of at the moment. Variety is the spice of life.

And I thoght I was the only one that didn't like those loud speakers at car shows! I think I can live a happy life if I never hear Rockin Robin again.

But when I'm wrenching or driving around I'm a huge rockabilly fan, new and old stuff. 60's bluegrass is a good choice for me too and like alot of you guys alot of classic rock as well.

Just none of that screaming thrash metal stuff, rap or new country and Im good.

...with over 5,000 songs on my Ipod, I can satisfy my eclectic taste at a moments notice. Most often while driving the Plymouth I will listen to 40's standards, Jazz, Big Band, and Crooners. Might just as easily throw on a mellow mix of 60's and 70's stuff including Van Morrison, Crosby Still, Nash & Young, Jessie Collin Young etc. Just yesterday it was Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard etc. Only thing for sure..., it won't be rap crap, hip hop or Michael Jackson (sorry, he's guilty).

I listen to NPR during daylight hours but shift to a wide selection of music later. I have Sirius satelite. I like Garage Rock w/ Lil' Steven. Sirius Disorder Ch. 70 which will be Celtic to Opera to Jazz to Rock. I have been listening to some hot 60s Salsa, Joe Cuba (bang Bang). "If It ain't got that Swing it don't mean a Thing!" Latest Rock Listening is Love. For those who don't like Rap try a little Gnarles Barkley "St. Elsewhere". Eric

I enjoy just about anything other than rap and head-banger music. Big Bands, swing are great. Having grown up in Chicago, I am addicted to Blues. Any type is fine.

It all depends on what car I am working on at the time. Hey greg, I have had Sirrius radio for some years now and just dicovered that they play music about 8 months ago. If you turn it on in the house you can pic it up on your car radio outside. I play Soild gold if I am working on the 55 chevy, little Richard, chuck berry, if I am working on the T-bird 60's music must be played. If I am working on our beloved 1940 Plymouth I need some Louis Jordan he is the original rapper. If things are going right I put on some Nat "king" cole, Miles Davis or some Sinatra. If things are puzzling I play some MONK. If I need to get going early Aretha franklin, got time the supremes. If I am working on someone else's cara little steely dan,CCR, wings heart or frankie Beverly and maze. If it's my wifes car.....Parliment funkadelic, bootsy's rubber band(Don's favarite) James brown if I'm lazy, he gets me going:D
