MATT47025 Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 So the other day we were installing some carpet in our truck and broke the old shifter knob while trying to remove it. I replaced it with an old white porcelain door knob. The fit was almost perfect. A little epoxy and it was good to go. Sorry for the poor quality pictures but my iphone doesnt do well in low light. I love the patina on this old knob. I'm sure i'm not the first to think of this but thought I would share. Reply with a pic of your shifter knob I would like to see. 1 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Gets lots of compliments on my shifter! Can also be used to tighten a 1 1/8" bolt in a pinch! Lol Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 I have actually made a few wood ones on my lathe. Got a real nice feel to them. Working on one made of mexican rosewood (bocote) with turquoise and a buffalo nickel inlay. Will post some pictures when it is done. Jeff 1 Quote

pflaming Posted August 30, 2015 Report Posted August 30, 2015 Is that steering wheel knob still legal? We all had one back when. 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2015 Report Posted August 30, 2015 the steering knob along with the switchblade was legal items to employ if you were an one armed man.. Quote
ledfootslim Posted August 30, 2015 Report Posted August 30, 2015 Is that steering wheel knob still legal? We all had one back when. No, I checked on that- fully legal and, I think, very helpful! Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 30, 2015 Report Posted August 30, 2015 the steering knob along with the switchblade was legal items to employ if you were an one armed man.. So are you telling me I am a common two armed criminal because I have one of these? 2 Quote

Jeff Balazs Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 So are you telling me I am a common two armed criminal because I have one of these? Does it have Rizuto Estilleto stamped on it? Quote
pflaming Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 No, not common, possibly uncommon . . . , Quote
ledfootslim Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 So are you telling me I am a common two armed criminal because I have one of these? Haha, I bet my pocket knife would qualify me for criminal status, regardless of limb-numbers. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Does it have Rizuto Estilleto stamped on it? I will look when I return home. Spent last night in Milton, Ontario in Buffalo NY as I write this. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 in reality that picture was taken right after Don saw the movie, World Fastest Indian and he was doing his best to come up with a side shifter for ole blue... (and no I did not bother to see the movie and probably never will...may or may not apply...just making a funny..) 1 Quote
Dave72dt Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I did see the movie and enjoyed it. My taste in movies does not match up with everyone else's so my opinion is irrelevant. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 it is very possible that one day I will see the movie..or at minimum start the view...not to say it would not be of interest to me...but I would not rule out the fact it could peak my curiosity a bit to at least glance at it and decide the merits at that time...as of now..nothing comes to mind that would have me think it would be a good watch... Don Coatney Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 The aforementioned movie is one of my favorites worth watching more than once. In 1969 when I hauled my new BSA 3 banger to race at Bonneville one of the highlights of the trip was to meet Burt Monro. I have shaken his hand and touched his Indian. I highly recommend the movie. Anthony Hopkins plays the role of Burt and has it down pat. 1 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I agree. Awesome movie. I have a copy on my iPhone, just in case I get the itch to watch it. 1 Quote
