HanksB3B Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 I don't usually post anything over on the car side, but I thought you guys might like to see my friend Scott's Wayfarer. It's not restored it was cared for by someone that helped a little old lady keep her car in good running order. (well one picture will challenge that notion) see if you can guess. Scott is a great guy and seems to always show up to our little informal Saturday morning "Caffeine Cruiser" gathering with something different and exciting. x x Hope you enjoyed seeing this car as much as I did, Hank Quote
greg g Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 A car very much like that is the car that my dad hand and the first car I have a memory of. Quote

(well one picture will challenge that notion) see if you can guess. Hank The only thing I see is the braded battery ground cable but those were very common back in the day. I cannot tell the gauge of the red battery cable. The battery cables are my guess. Quote
Adam H P15 D30 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Beautiful car. Hard to tell but yours looks like it does not have an internal or external (Bump in head) coolant bypass like my 49 wayfarer. Quote
Grdpa's 50 Dodge Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 only thing "I SEE" is the stickers on the dash. Is this a guessing game/ What does the winner win???lol Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 anyone notice that the two shutoff valves for the heater are all open to permit water to circulate thru the heater. I do not know when the picture was taken but if the weather is warm then you have hot water and heat coming into the passenger compartment. I have dual shutoff valves on my 39 Desoto one onthe waterpump and another on the head of the block at the rear. This are shutoff right now. Over all this is a very nice presentable car. Keep up the good work. Rich HArtung Quote
DJ194950 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 The rubber fuel line to the carb that appears too close to the exhaust manifold, ready to get fire good and hot?? DJ Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 The rubber fuel line to the carb that appears too close to the exhaust manifold, ready to get fire good and hot?? DJ Winner, winner, Chicken Dinner ! You guessed it ! Hank Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Look closer. I will bet you a chicken dinner that is not a rubber hose but a steel line with a rubber hose heat insulator. Quote
RobertKB Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Look closer. I will bet you a chicken dinner that is not a rubber hose but a steel line with a rubber hose heat insulator. I think Don is right. Still wouldn't want any kind of rubber near a hot manifold. Stinky! Quote
50desotocoupe Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Hmm, I thought that was some type of heat shield that covers the steel line to help keep the heat out. Quote
knuckleharley Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 I think Don is right. Still wouldn't want any kind of rubber near a hot manifold. Stinky! I don't think it is rubber. I think it is that heat insulation (fiberglass?) that you can use on all sorts of things. Quote
YukonJack Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 First thing that out of place to me were the headlight trim rings. Quote
DJ194950 Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Looking again I was wrong I believe. Don and 50 desoto I now believe are right. Steel line with a newer insulation cover. See no hose clamps now for a rubber hose. Don't think the headlight rings are correct either per YukonJack. I do like the look of them however! DJ Quote
