Don Coatney Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 How smart are you? For you motorcycle and bicycle riders. To initiate a right turn while up on two wheels what way do you turn the handlebars? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 In our motorcycle training courses, we teach to "Press" on the handgrip in the direction you wish to go. "Press Right, Go Right... Press Left, Go Left." So, in a sense, Tim is correct. When you "Press Right" you are actually slightly turning the bars to the left. Merle Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 I have asked this question to many old school motorcycle riders and they always get it wrong. When I tell them the correct answer they accuse me of being on drugs. It is good that two of my old car buddies got it right. Shows that they actually think about what they are doing. Most riders dont think they just react. Counter steer is the correct termonoligy. To start a turn in either direction you must turn the handlbar the opposite direction. Once you lean into the turn then you can turn the handlebar in the direction of the turn. Ask some riders you know and see how they answer. Quote

Don Jordan Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 This thread is moving fast so I'm a little behind here. Regarding the Fs - If you can't find the six try reading from the back to front and just look for the letters. As an English teacher I used that many times with my classes. I've got others. A ship can have a boat aboard but a boat can't have a ship. How about the difference between a rifle and a gun. A motor and an engine. Quote

hkestes41 Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 What is the difference between shade and a shadow? I was asked that question by one of our Japanese engineers who was visiting Texas one summer and I was looking for a place to park in the shade at a customer call. Quote

A ship can have a boat aboard but a boat can't have a ship. How about the difference between a rifle and a gun. A motor and an engine. From my old Army days, a rifle's for shooting; a gun is for fun. Suffice it to say there's a certain nuance here. They just didn't want you to call a rifle a gun. Edited February 13, 2013 by CaptainGTX Quote
