OT...Who'd have thought Wonder Bread would become a collector's item??

Have you noticed that after announcement of the demise of the Hostess baking company, makers of Twinkies,

HoHos, Wonder Bread and other goodies ......those

items have appeared on eBay....some at ridiculous prices.

Well, as a humorous Christmas present, my daughter and

son in law gave me a bag of Hostess items which they nabbed

just before the stores closed up.

They said the gift was because they often raid my "snack

drawer" in the pantry cabinet while visiting.

Guess I better get to eating........pronto......or should I offer

this stuff on eBay and get rich??:D

Anyway.....it was good for a laugh when opening presents.

I hope everyone had as good a Christmas day as we did at our

house. So...what goodies did ol Santa leave under the tree or

in the driveway for the auto enthusiasts here??

Wonder builds strong bodies 12 ways. Of course twinkies and ho hos don;t do a body much good at all.

But they improve your memory, and make you feel so good,:) and make

you happy all day,:) and I can not remember the rest.:P.

Donettes and Brownie Bites will probably never return as every one makes their own versions of them and they are not well-known brands. I can all but guarantee that some one by the end of the year will acquire the rights to the Wonder, Twinkie, and Ho-Ho brand names. Zingers are a toss-up. IMHO, no one company will buy Hostess lock, stock, and barrell. If I were to hazard a guess, a company like Bimbo, Otis Spunkmeyer, or Sara Lee, that already has their own bakeries, will buy the rights, recipes, and any special equipment to various Hostess products. After the big boys get done with their bidding war for the rights to make Twinkies and Wonder bread, a smaller baker may purchase some of the less iconic, but profitable brands, and market those as well.

Have no fear, Twinkies and Wonder bread will be back; probably by the end of 2013.

I get to fill my welding bottle with Argon/CO2 courtesy of my wife. Not from Santa but just as good or better. Now to work on my rusty floors.

The only "sort of car related" item this year was a new pair of those

plastic folding sawhorses to replace the ones lost in the tornado.

They're handy for lots of things, including car related uses.

Posted

Bob I've got a pair of metal folding sawhorses that along with 2 2x4s and a sheet of plywood held up my flathead while I swapped oil pans. Maybe you should have asked for an upgrade :)

Ed--hopefully I won't have to use them for that...but you never

Know. I have put a board across them and it makes a

handy table for painting and other small chores.

you forget the BEST of all the Hostess offerings!

I read that the company had received over 100 inquiries

about buying some of their brands and they wanted to act

quickly while interest is high. So at least some items will

eventually return. We always bought our bread items at

their outlet store. The store is closed now and all their

area delivery trucks are sitting on the lot. Don't know

if they plan an auction or will sell individually.

As far as "auto enthusiast" related gifts - I got a bottle of hooch - sometimes it helps navigate the pot holes that come with these old cars :D

If I were to hazard a guess, the trucks will be wholesaled and the storefront will have a FOR SALE or LET sign once the creditors divvy up the cash, and have to settle for real estate and other physical assets to liquidate on their own.
