well guys, this is stuff you only read about.. a buddy of mine was working in a building that I drive by every day, called me up and told me to come down there right away, when I got there it was like walking into a museum, a 35 year collection of a local guy that passed away this past February, it was staggering. well long story short there was about 30 cars in the building, too much for me, but got together with a few friends, and we managed to buy 19 of them, with first call on any more as the estate is settled, most where stored on a second floor, the only way to get them down was remove a wall panel and bring them down with a forklift this is with out a doubt the coolest thing I have ever been involved in, ill post more pics as they come available :),

have never been a chebbie fan but always have thought the '58 a better looking car than the tri-5's and definitelfy better than the 59/60 ugly-mobiles..maybe its because the

tri-5s are like Mustang and Camaros..just too many in one place at one time..very easy on the eye color also..

What is the story behind this collection? To save what appears to be undriven cars, most of which seem to be top of the line for their kind took some kind of ' non-needed' cash. What was he, a successful Amway distributor?

He was in property management, there where 20 or so stored upstairs in this building with really no way to get them out, except like I mentioned a forklift, 95% of them are southern, taxes paid, titles in hand, them just stored up there, a few where in process of restoration, and a couple the he drove. apparently every car has a story, he found them on road trips and dragged them home. the 51 and 54 chev convertibles had their own room in the warehouse done in a 50's kind of theme with neon signs and lots of memorobilia, very cool to see, I wish I could have met him because from what I hear he was a nice guy with the means to do what he loved, the funny thing to me is, I have driven past the front door of this place every day for the past 15 years, and never had a clue, never any cars outside, or even signs of life around the building. here is a couple of pics from the 2nd floor after the wall panel had been removed, sideways and taken with a phone :)

it is a very cool car..i didnt like it much at first, but its growing on me :)

Just get rid of the billet wheels on that wagon and it'll look a lot better!

I didn't know Pontiac made a Nomad-like sport wagon.

A couple of your photos show some big doors at one end of the building. You'd think some kind of freight elevator was used to get them all up there or was in the building at some time.. There's just too much space on the second floor for a factory or warehouse not to have convenient access to both levels.

Very nice collection!

most of the pics where taken on the main floor after we brought them down, the upstairs was just a dark room with some stairs going up and a removable panel in the wall, the only pics on the second floor are the grainy cell phone ones, you wouldnt believe it you didnt see it, he had plans for some long term storage up there

I agree about the wheels...you cant see the green and white diamond tuck interior in the pics...but it has to go as well, it is a 80s period rod kinda thing, everything under is chrome, control arms, 9" ford completely chromes, drive shaft, even the leaf springs are chrome, hurts the value a bit..but still kinda cool.

There where only 4000 made, and estimated 300 left registered in the US. so lots of people have never seen one

Post more pics of the wagon if you can. I looked up other safari wagons and didn't see any with the same style real wheel opening and side stainless trim as on yours. I wonder if this one's body was modified in any way?

Thanks,
