And the stash. 12v starter and 54 dodge speedometer for my 54 plymouth project. grill stainless and a mirror arm for 41-47 dodge trucks. I got the hinge pin to move up slightly than started hack sawing between the mirror arm and door. After about half way I figured it would break so I started hitting it with the chisel. Was a lot stronger than I thought and when it finally broke I was already picking the mirror arm off the ground when I heard that pin head bounce off their fence!

that green cab in post  #100 probably came to the yard that way.  I'm guessing it was somebody's abandoned project and there's a stash of parts in their garage or basement. I'm sure there's a story behind it.  could be an excellent start for someone who had a really rough cab but all the other parts.   Bedside even looked straight.

Dave both those trucks came in together and yes they were someones abandoned project. The front 1/2 of the floor in the green one was replaced with diamond plate and it didn't look like they did a very good job putting it in there. The cab corners and back wall to floor area looked solid though. Oh and a lot of the pieces off the green one were in the cab and bed of the one in front of it.

So who's up for finishing where they left off?

Gooddad that is the mirror arm that I need!! The one door inside the cab with thewhite leters. If you go with Ed let me know.

from looking thru the pics of the stuff I'm going to get from "Oodels of parts"  I think there might be an arm in there for you.  Or I might have one already.

Where was this yard? I could really use a better cab if it's anywhere within a decent distance, my floor corners are pretty well shot. Rear fenders would be great too, the big boxy ones.

Thanks

That green cab would be easy to get. Its all stripped out already and the back of the cab looked solid. Like I said someone did a hokey looking job replacing the front floor with diamond plate. I didn't look that closely at it but I remember seeing seam sealer or glue of some sort slopped all over the firewall to floor seam. From inside the cab it looked fine. Let me know if you're headed that way I'd meet you there.

Haha sorry I wasn't trying to be a smartass (for once....) It is about 400 miles away for you though. Heck use it as is and just match the green....

Actually thats not too far out from here, be a good days trip at least! Wonder if I could get my brother to come out with his pickup and haul it back? You wouldnt happen to have any idea on prices would you? Honestly I just need toeboards and the front corners where the mounts are

They've been quite reasonable on the stuff I've bought. Of course to know for sure call ahead. Be specific on what you want and whether you want them to cut it out or if you're bringing a cordless sawsall to cut it out yourself.

Ed and I went a picking today.....see all the fun pictures!    We hit French lake, Rohners and dd a fly by of Windy Hill.  I'll put the "haul pictures" first.  All the parts are for sale except the bumper, lighs, tags, hub cap, older dodge grill piece and tailgate.

Would love a chance to go see an old wrecking yard. My mother always said I sould be in the "junk" business as I was always dragging home stuff from neighborhood alleys!

Now I kind of wish I'd have listened to that insite of what I really loved! Still do!

I held back small pile this time. Biggest scores are the nice dash chrome with very minty plymouth badge and a set of 39-47 gauges with a sorta functional temp gauge. I boiled it and it went up nicely but seemed to stall out around 180-190.

Isn't it funny how I get excited when I hear you guys are going picking again. Another great haul of parts - well done Mark and Ed. I just wish that we had more yards with older vehicles like that here in Oz.

Thanks to Mark and Ed for looking for the fenders I need on my 48 Panel truck! Mark sent me a text letting me know the didn't find anything, but I realize it still takes work to dig around, appreciate it guys!

I can't think of a better way to spend a free day then digg'n round an old yard. Thanks for sharing the experience. ^_^

What are the running boards off of?  Just started a 52 project and not sure what will/will not fit.
