ggdad1951 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Report Posted April 26, 2014 Looking good Mark. You must just about be done on the FEF truck now hey? yah, he's pretty much "done" as "done" as a restoration can get. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Report Posted September 23, 2014 Ed finally made a Monday night Culver's! FEF wasn't the only DODGE! 2 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 6, 2014 Author Report Posted November 6, 2014 Not many days in a November I get to drive FEF! My daily is out getting some cancer treatment and it's a nice day so....fill up with NEW gas and some STA-BIL in the tank prior being put to hibernation next week! 1 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 Got FEF put away for the winter before the SNOWMGEDDON hits tomorrow night! Tuesday I'll get the battery pulled, get the mothballs in and around and some sticky traps around the tires. Quote
Brent B3B Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 man, I would strap that shovel aimed at the bed to the wall! Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 I would have a high quality truck cover with a flannel lining made for the truck to keep it nice and cozy for the long cold winter. Quote
pflaming Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 What a beautiful truck.`I don't usually like the black bed wiht a non-black cab, but how the front bumper, the running boards and the bed all line up,causes me to make an exceptiion. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Hang that picture next to the truck. If I were a mouse and walked in and saw your photo and the way you have postured yourself I would high tail it to the next garage Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 Don that's not me...that's my good buddy Matty. As for the shovel and such....gonna deal with that all this week. I do have s cover for him to put on Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 It's a shame you have to winterize and park that beauty. Winterizing here consists of reminding yourself it's winter. About the only difference this year between summer and now is the sun is lower in the sky........just as warm though. Still hitting the 90's during the afternoons and humidity is under 20%. Jeff Quote
pflaming Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) Jeff, it's interesting that the weather is what drew the people to the LA basin and now it's the people that are causing people to leave: many have gone into the foothills of the mountains close by, others just over the grape vine, some to the area just below Yosemite, etc. Here in the valley we winterize by getting new windshield wipers to remove the morning dew, wear a good sweater or light coat til noon and until the sun sets. Then the temp and the humidity really cut through clothing. Oh well, it's either yellow and gray snow or . . . And yes, to park that truck from early November til probably early May is a shame. Edit: ggdad, why not winterize that truck in my garage. No salt on the streets, no rain, no snow yellow or gray, no low temperatures and I will systematically drive it to keep all those rubber seals, body mounts, brake lines, etc., nice an lubricated which will add to the life of the truck. ggdad1951 Posted November 13, 2014 Author Report Posted November 13, 2014 Winter prep, how did I do? Quote
Dave72dt Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 I hope that's not a plastic tarp. They tend to scratch the paint plus condense and retain moisture under them. The cover needs to made of a breathable material. You may need to go back on a regular basis and replenish the dryer sheets and the sticky traps may not be very sticky in January. Oh, the 3 year old patina looks really good! Quote
Brent B3B Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 hey, i thought Matty was part of the winter protection...... he left his post? might have to purchase a recliner and a mini fridge for the garage Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 My guess is you will have a wrinkle free vehicle when this lack of heat cycle ends. Quote
DJ194950 Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Did you use the dryer sheets that advertise the Long lasting scent so it will smell fresh out of the dryer come spring? DJ Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 13, 2014 Author Report Posted November 13, 2014 yes that garage smells like BOUNCE! The cover is a breathable cover made of a soft fabric. Quote
The Oil Soup Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 I wonder if those dryer sheets might effect the paint or plastic/rubber? 1 Quote
Todd B Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 Once the smell leavs the dryer sheets, which will more than likely be when it is in the heart of the cold the mice will have something to chew up and move to there new home inside of your beautifully restored heater box. The animal lovers should appreciate all the hard work you put into winterizing. Quote
pflaming Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Todd, and the nice home for the mice! Some put several bars of Dove soap and then replace them in ninety days [mice don't trust birds!] lol Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 I've used Bounce in my grill for years and I've NEVER seen a mouse use it one for bedding. Quit making me nervous! STOP IT! 1 Quote

HanksB3B Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) See if Tim will let Sakura stay over your place for the winter. Problem solved, No dryer sheets required.
