Bought new bolts for the springs. Need to decide on a plan for the center bolt. The original center bolt head is loose in the diff mounts I bought. If I go to the next side up bolt head it will fight in there tight but that size bolt won't go through the leaves. Is it ok/possible to drill them slightly? Otherwise do they make bolts with oversize heads? For the spacers I found I can buy them from Mcmaster etc online or can you just make them??

Ed;

I made my spacers from heavy wall steel tubing that I matched up to the originals.

Major progress today. Tossed off the cab and Dad and I carried the frame into the garage. Installed the bellhousing and T5 and figured out how much we needed to remove to make it fit. Got that cut out and welded a piece back in. Along with that welded up a couple last holes in cross members.

Notice where my line is compared to where my cut ended up. Got a little overboard and realized I had cut into one of the 2 gas tank mount holes. So had to put a piece of the cut back.

The frame needs 2 remnants of running board hangers removed along with the homemade trailer hitch. Then I can start preparing it for primer and paint.

Went to a swap meet Sunday and got a pair of 39-47 big truck running boards with mounts. Looks like the mounts are too big to use as is but I am hoping to cut them down to size.

Tuesday we went to french lake and I got this awesome oil bath air cleaner off a 55 dodge truck with a v8.

wow, you must have the week off...not even a call about FL to see if I wanted to go  :P

that rim style was used on '48-'53 for sure, I think the clips changed in '57 as the hubcaps changed with the overall redesign...looking at the parts manual for the B-series, it lists 15 x 5.5 for the 3/4-tons, my guess is that it may be from '54-56  :cool:

That wide in a 15"?

If it is 5 x 5 x 9/16" it is for a 3/4 ton pilothouse

nope its 5x4.5 bolt pattern

Frame is getting close. Everything removed and welds ground. Wire brushed the entire thing with a combo of drill and angle grinder. Painted with rustoleum rusty metal primer.
