Have you ever thought about making a sunvisor out of wood?

It is against the law to have wood accessories on the front portion of any road driven vehicle in Arizona. I thought everyone knew about the possibility of "draft splintering".

Have you ever thought about making a sunvisor out of wood?

So, I got to thinking about all of the Photo Shop Gurus, here on P15D24, and I thought it would be cool to have a "bitchin" (old surfer word for very cool) photo of PLYWOOD with a wood, surf theme wood outside sunvisor. I wish to thank the "outside the box" thinking of a D. Coatney, honorary Design Team member of The Wood Car Company, for this great suggestion.

So, you could get a metal visor and woodgrain it..........

Yes sir, that is true, but then, it wouldn't be as much fun as challenging these photo shop guys and keeping Coatney on top of his game, designing custom cars. If I were to put an outside sunvisor on PLYWOOD, I would do exactly as you suggested. Actually, I am going to pass your idea on the the National Woodie Club, as I think it is a sterling idea and I commend you for it. I still like seeing your "vert", as it brings back memories of one of my favorite toys.. Thanks, Bob

I think it gives some cars and attitude, like don't tread on me kinda thing. I like them but probably will never have one.

Most of the Lowriders at this past weekend's Lowrider show had outside sun visors and a whole lot of attitude. I am going to keep PLYWOOD beach cruiser cool and easy going. I am going to put a visor on the 52 Chevy pick up, RED RYDER

lets see, add some fuzzy dice, best girl's garter, curb feelers, mudflaps, dual dipsticks..breezies, beenie prop bug chopper, squirrel tail on antennea, dingleballs, angel hair on the rear package tray, headlight visors, shadowbox license holder, dual fender mount antennea, flamethrower, lakepipe wit funcitonal cutouts, flippers and 8-balls, continental kit, church key and Trojans in the g-box, two dead plug wires so when crusing folks think you have a big cam, real hood locks so no one sees the 6 cylinder with single ace..etc etc

Wow what a list Tim,anything you may have precluded, I have heard those dingle balls referred to as "monkeys nuts" too.

How about a red light mounted under the dash for mood lighting, saw that too.

I once installed angel hair on the dash of my 1965 Chev Impala convert, had fun getting it off after I got bored with it. I sure wish I had a pic of that car....

I like them, but unless I want to have one of the few traditional "bomber" lowriders in my area, have to pass. Can't find a ready made for a B1B anyway, but I suppose I could cut one down meant for a W900 Kenworth or 379 Peterbilt... And fender skirts on a stock B1B would be hideous, no matter how far it got lowered. And I'm not cutting the bumper to run 47 rear fenders... seen it, looks good, but...

If my grandpa was alive to see some of the crazy stuff I've tried (and passed on) with his old cow hauler he'd keel over dead...:D

No pics, but there is a B1B with 39-47 1/2 ton rear fenders running around Tacoma Washington. Used to see the truck alot, even at one of the local Mopar shows. Those fenders would actually look good skirted. And they actually flow well with the Pilot House trucks.

I almost bought a 49 Wayfarer to go with my truck, but it wasn't $13k nice...

I don't mean to offend anyone (I usually do) I don't mean this in a bad way... but - my take on sun visors is Mexican. They go out for every external accessory to the point it starts to look cheap. I often thought I might like one but just couldn't get past the stigma. I actually have a pair of skirts that came with the car and I took them off. It's like people that chrome everything. Like salt: a little is flavorful too much ruins the soup.

This, of course, is just my opinion and does not reflect the opinion of management.;)

Sweet looking! I've got a fulton 800 for my '40 4dr sedan, just need to mount it yet after I get my new windshield glass this next week. Though it's too late for your car, I just turned the front running lights above the headlights to running/turn signals...using a 12v amber 3 LED bulb in the origonal's place{3/4" hole} and it works great...just for a reference should you ever change up, it's a united pacific #379696 3 wire...the #37967 would be my next choice but I wanted a clear lense to blend in better when off.

Where can you find the sage green/zinc chromate paint for the under side of the Fulton visor?

May sound funny, but model kit olive drab or "zinc chromate" green{both flat finishes} should work and could be found at nearly any hobby store. Tamiya or testors makes small rattle cans that would be more than enough to paint the underside of a visor.
