Tim, I never lose anything in my shop/garage. In my case it is putting something where I'll remember where I put it. Only problem....my memory is short! The older I get, the shorter the memory!:P

Ya, don`t you just hate it when the memory gets fuzzy. Seems it`s the second thing to go. Plus when you crawl from under the car to get something on the bench and when you get there you can`t remember what you came for!!

The gentleman on e-bay seems to think it is 1 of 3 to still exist. There is one in omaha that I've seen.

Since Dodge built exactly two limousines in 1947-48, the "3" is incorrect.

This one is a true limousine - it has the partition between front and rear compartments along with a glass section that rolls down. Also, there are exterior door locks on the rear doors and they should be keyed different from the front doors/ignition.

Dodge also built 3,698 LWB 8-passenger sedans in 1947-48. These look like the limousine models except for the lack of partition between the front and rear and the exterior key locks on the rear doors.

Although the LWB models were listed for the 1946 model year, production did not commence until after the 1947 models were introduced. Thus there are no 1946 8-passenger sedans or limousines.

However, given that Dodge built but two limousines and that the rear doors and partition are interchangeable with DeSoto and Chrysler LWB models, I would get the build record for this vehicle to verify it was built at the factory as a limousine.

The serial number, 10031185, will result in a few surprises if you do, though. No Chrysler car was built with that serial number. As a matter of fact, Chrysler skipped 10000001 to 10101000. And 10101001 was a 1937 Plymouth DeLuxe. No Dodge was ever built with a serial number beginning with "1" in the 1930 to 1957 period.

Serial numbers for 1948 Dodges, DeLuxe and Custom :

Detroit : 31011766 to 31201086

SanLeandro : 45022453 to 45041545

Windsor : 9842106 to 98544990
