Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 have you ever put something away for safe keeping and not know where you put it when it comes to to make use of it...I have placed for safe keeping some tail light upgrade pig-tails..I am assuming they are still safe Quote
greg g Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 My wife would tell you to say a prayer to St. Anthony. He is aparently in charge of lost things. Most promently people and or their souls, but in hs spare time he also keeps track of things like car keys, lucky pennys and other missplaced articles. St. Anthony, St. Anthony Please come around, Something is lost And can't be found. She by the way has never lost anything. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I've done that. One sure way to locate them is to go buy another one. Then the original one will turn up right away. Sometimes, that is. If it makes you feel any better, my brother in law is still looking for the original set of keys he had for his 36 Ford 3 window coupe. They've only been safe for over 20 years now. He finally bought new ignition switch and door locks about 15 years ago. However, those original keys are still in a very safe place. Quote

The other one keeps hiding stuff from me! Quote
Johnny S Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I'm still missing a set of car keys for the Suburban ..... they are in a "safe" place too Tim. And, I'm a real advocate for the "buy multiples" theory of just about everything ... particularly things like tape-measures and reading glasses .... but then again I also apply a similar philosophy to cars and firearms. I consider it good loss-prevention insurance. Quote
oldmopar Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I do that all the time I would like to blame it on old age but even in my younger days i was always forgetting where I put something. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I have done this several times but I always find these things in the very last place I looked. Quote
Don Jordan Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 While I too have put many things in a safe place I have found the best way to find them is to look for something else. I was looking for a level in the garage. I found a set of window cranks, license plate from 48, some steel wool - No level. Later I remember seeing the steel wool and went looking for it and found the level. And, of course, it's already been said, the quickest way to find something is to buy another one on e-bay for more money than you paid for the first one. At least it doesn't get boring. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Man I am glad I am not alone on this!! Thought I was absent minded but I guess we all have a little bit of it! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 I refer to my shop as "the black hole" things go in and get lost forever.. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 after a nights sleep..couple cups of coffee..analyzing what I was doing/thinking when I put this stuff away from the swap meet visit..I found them on the 54 Plymouth parts shelf in a small box behind the light assemblies..I found some extremely nice front bezels to upgrade my 54 front parking lights to chrome bezel instead of the all in one lens I have..they are for single element and I have factory turn signals..so upgrade is necessary.. Frank Elder Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Fuzzy minded Frankie does'nt have any problems with finding anything, because by the time I've made the 50 ft. stroll to the garage I will have forgotten what I was looking for anyway! Had the last of the pumpkin rolls today.....Sorry Tim! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 I just asked mums when she is going to make me one...dang them things are fantastic with a hot cup of coffee.. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 I've learned that you should not reorganize things in the shop. Every time I do that I always loose stuff, because everything is in a different place now. Just Friday I was going to loan an electric scraper to the neighbor across the street. I've always kept that thing in the same cabinet in the garage for over 25 years. Went to get it and it was not there. That cabinet had my battery charger and other car related stuff in it instead. I searched every cabinet in the garage for it and it wasn't there. Finally told him lets go check the basement shop. Opened up the first cabinet down there and there it sat. I must have moved it down there when I cleaned and reorganized the garage about a year or so ago, because it doesn't get much use. So..........I guess one trick is to not move things around once you have a spot for that item. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 . Opened up the first cabinet down there and there it sat. Norm; Looks like you followed my lead and found it in the last place you looked:D Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Norm;Looks like you followed my lead and found it in the last place you looked:D Yep. That's where I always find my missing things. We just gotta get smarter that's all, and look in the last place first. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 Frankie...wife came home from uptown with the makings for my pumpkin roll...for supper, another dish she puts together for me is a squash caserole that is just like you plopped down at some cafe on the Mediterrian..seasoned to perfection.....excellent with grilled steak... Frank Elder Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Tim, how dare you use the S-word without the M-word! Morel mushrooms that is.That's my favorite combo with sweet tea. Picked up the habit when on shore duty in meridian, ms. OH by the way, still can't find my esmey's birthday present from ten years ago. Sure had to scramble for a replacement that morning! Still hearing about that from her. Forgetful Frankie..... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 I sauted a few 'roons Friday to go with my hamburger pattie..97% lean and all flavor..no shrinkage at all... I like going to the fair and getting the fried mushrooms..my favorite fair-food...howver they have only had them one time here at the fair in Georgia..usually get them at the fair in Ladson SC...I tried an order at the local greek pizza place..was just not good at all.. Jerry Roberts Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 My wife cleaned my shop in the garage for me by moving everything around and putting things in bags . ( they like to put everything in bags ) When I couldn't find anything , I told her that if she ever did that again , I was going to clean the kitchen for her when she wasn't home . No more problems . Quote
Normspeed Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Ahhh, a good solution Jerry. I should have tried that one on, let's see, my third wife. Woman could put stuff away in the darnedest places. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Tim, you know that steel shed i built? i added shelves to it the other weekend, and relocated bunches of parts/tools off the floor of the shed and i STILL can't see the floor. even built a second one for the wife to use; to clear out the back bedroom? it's full and so is the bedroom! heck, i built the SHED so i didn't have to search through 6 car trunks for parts and tools... maybe it would help if i stopped buying cars for a while.... RobertKB Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 If you put your car somewhere safe and lose it, then you are in trouble. About once a year I have this dream that I have rented a bunch of garages around town and keep all kinds of cars in them that I don't own, have never owned, or even want to own. It never fails but I forget where these garages are and drive all over town looking for them. Never find the cars. I do find garages that are empty and I want to rent but no cars. I'm talking 20 cars or so here. OK, Freud or anyone else out there - what does this dream mean? Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I think it means you need more cars. Perhaps a crusty P15 convert with a parts car? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 27, 2008 Author Report Posted August 27, 2008 rebel..you can never have too much storage space..followed only by.. no matter how much you have, you need more.. Quote
