  1. I had the same problem on my car. If I remember correctly I was able to buy a correct one from shell that would match the drivers side. If you see these pics below the drivers side here has the edges rolled and the passenger side the edges (where it sits on the fender) are more flat. The headlight ring will not sit right against the trim piece. I think the difference was 1946 used a different one than 47-48. Seems like I started a thread about this a few years ago. I will search and see if I can find it.
  2. Hope the best for you Randy and your family. Will keep you folks in my thoughts and prayers.
  3. When using the dual offy intake do you have to upgrade to the headers, or will the new intake work with the old exhaust manifold?
  4. Yep I did the same thing on my '47. What gear ratio are you running?
  5. Hey Bill. I am envious of your work. Car is coming along nicely. Just wondering if the Chevy small block would have been any easier? Seems like things interchange with GM better.
  6. Just my $.02. I thought my engine mounts were good when I rebuilt my engine. Then about two years later got some vibrations I didn't like. I ended up changing them with the engine still in the car, but it was a bit of a pain. If I would of had to do it over I would have swapped them with the engine out as it is a snap. Just food for thought.
  7. Hey welcome to the forum. I'm also one of those in the younger generation. Been enjoying my old Plymouth for quite a few years now. I also have a '65 Chevy longbed I enjoy driving too, but with three girls ages 7, 4, and 3 the more-door works best. Can't fit them all in the truck. Learned a lot from the people on this forum, and there is a lot of info in the archives. Use the search function often. Make yourself at home and check out all the info, even the tech tips on the main page. Good luck with your Plymouth.
  8. Congratulations Ed and Carman. Glad everyone is doing well. Opening up a whole new world of fun.
  9. Mark, I am running 205 75 15 on mine. 215 should work as well.
  10. This rear end is 1" wider the the original. I don't know the exact measurement as I didn't write it down.
  11. That looks like fun Mark. Makes me want to go for a ride. May have to do that this weekend if the rain holds off. Neat videos and good music.
  12. Well after driving it quite a bit this fall I am satisfied with the swap. I can run the car at 65-70mph in od and it cruises right along nicely. If I am in city traffic I just pull out the OD cable and it pulls just fine. Usually wait to push it back in until I am on the highway. I drove it to Evansville, IN and all over Southern Illinois the last two months. I am really pleased with it. Next big trip will be Jackson, TN in April.
  13. Bunny Run is going to be held in Jackson, TN April 20-22, 2012. I went last year with a friend of mine and had a really good time. Free food on Friday and Saturday night as well as good music and cool cars. Just made my reservations for next year and the entry fee is $25 pre-registration or $30 at the show for the weekend. I'm taking the '47 next year and wanted to see if any other folks down that way would like to join me?
  14. I'm running 12 volts on original OD parts. Some say it will work well for a long time, others say it will fail at some point. Been running it that way for two years now. Will see what happens.
  15. Hey Chet I went with the fat side down. After a mistaken ebay ad when I sold a guy a right fender molding and I listed it as a left did I learn the hard way.
  16. Recent photo.
  17. I was really hoping to go as well, but due to financial strains and family commitments I will be unable to attend as well.
  18. As Don said I am very happy with mine. It charges 13.5-14V most of the time, headlights do not dim at stoplights and it has been very reliable. Would buy another one in a heartbeat. Plus if I'm in say Nashville, TN and it stops charging a stop by O'reilly's or Autozone late on a Saturday night will fix me right up.
  19. I rewired my original harness and added a fuse block for all my 12V accessories. Since 6V wires are larger there was not need to rewire the car for me as I had already done so. I am very happy with my 12V upgrade and it was fairly easy. If you have specific questions or don't know where to start try the search function up above as there is a lot of information. Also I would be glad to answer any questions you have. PM me if you would like.
  20. Neat pics Don. A friend of mine is there this weekend with his '61 Oldsmobile. I may have to go down there one year. Looks like a fun time.
  21. Glad things are moving along for you guys Bob. Do you have a picture of what the neighborhood looked like before the storm? Interesting how it all looks now.
  22. A friend of mine put them on his '37 Chevy and they look and work great. I saw about the same sets at Frog Follies going for $75 to $100.
  23. I also would recommend these wipers in a heartbeat. They work great and it was a fairly easy install. I have read the two applications and the only difference I can see is as stated the factory electric option. Since you have the Plymouth I would order the first one. You can always call Newport and ask them. They should give you the right part # for your car. I ordered mine from a street rod parts dealer at a car show. All I gave them was my car info and they sent me the right one very quickly. They had to order it from Newport and have them mail it to me. After numerous fights with my vacuum wipers I am very happy with this setup.
  24. I don't know Don. It is on the list of things I would like to do, but may not have the funds to do so. Sounds like a good time though.
  25. Returned home yesterday from a weekend in Evansville, IN for Frog Follies. It has grown to be a very large show for pre-'49 vehicles only. Many street rods and classics there. Car ran great and had good weather with temps in the mid to upper 80's. No rain and clear skies. I did roll the odometer back to zero this weekend, which I thought was kind of neat. Kind of thought to myself how long it had been to get to those 100,000 miles and how many times it has rolled over before. Lots of mopars there this weekend as always. Took pics of several with a few others thrown in there as well. Here's the link to the photobucket album. Enjoy the pics. http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/siufan6/Frog%20Follies%202011/
